I completely agree the root problem here is botters/rmt, not GDKP
the real solution is and always has been permabans for gold buyers, but blizz finds that unpalatable so we get half measure solutions like this.
GDKP is 100% not an issue if there isnt a ton of botted/rmt gold flooding the system to fuel it

No it’s some, and a very small some at that, the vast majority of GDKP’s do not have items going for anything that even seems like it would require RMT.
And streamers who post videos of high pots are intentionally inflating the pots because you know, clicks.

and even if it were not that many, if 20 people buy gold in gdkps out of 25 on your server, its the main contributor.

either get used to the new standard of GDKP being a back alley disallowed loot system or go to era where you can gdkp to your hearts content

I’ve never done a GDKP, but I think they’re good for raid participation. I play strictly with friends and if they decide to stop playing, I’ll not raid anymore and probably quit… good thing though is they’re hype of P2 and the next expansion.
These people literally think this decision by Blizzard came out of a magic hat or something lol.
My personal experience with first hand knowledge of 7 years of doing GDKP’s, Beats your 8th hand knowledge with zealous anti GDKP fanatics that heard about it from a guy that did a gdkp once.
Also Thats done With High roller GDKP’s its only done with Streamers for content.
Got along all phase 1 running pugs across 4 characters just fine. Raid participation will survive.
Well you obviously do care about youtubers and streamers since you’re basing your entire opinion of GDKP’s on them.
why would they reveal how they track the numbers/what data they do or dont have?
would just make it easier for people who want to circumvent the ban to know what not to do to show up in their automated detection (if they have any)

Raid participation will dip… maybe not early on, but once people are forced into playing without elitest classic players… we’ll see that dip and it will more than likely harshly effect the next phase.
Yeah, the biggest difference is that selfish children will just abandon the raid because they don’t care about how their actions impact others as their parents did a poor job raising them. Meanwhile, well-adjusted adults will hold up their end of the bargain and finish the raid or at least give it an honest effort because we live in a society that would not function if everybody was a self-absorbed narcissist.
Don’t worry though, your reputation will definitely precede you if you do that to enough raids. I’m sure glad my parents taught me to think about how my actions impact those around me…
