Ideal time to bail a non GDKP raid, as a carry?

I’d say 3 wipes of non RNG nature (I.E. wipes due to people blatantly not knowing mechanics, or having a griefer) and it’s sufficient reason to just “DC”

If it was GDKP I’d stick around much longer to get payout. But no reason to spend valuable time and give bunch of entitled non gdkp players free boss kills and loots, if there is no gold for me

GL trying to fill in my spot for your half completed MS OS raid

In vanilla classic, I was asked by my guild to carry a BWL run. I was in full warlords gear and high warlord weapon so did not need any items, but agreed just because they were guildies

Half of them did not know mechanics. Was forced to sit in a NINE HOUR run, with 4 out of those 9 hours at nefarian. And was not allowed to leave

IF THAT is the kind of “guild social” experience that blizz wants to force on people, then no ty sod

wow you got us

SoD seems to have brought in a huge amount of very green / naive players, much more so than the other versions of classic so far. I’m not sure why this is happening, but in my opinion it has directly contributed to the recent GDKP ban and it’s going to lead to a huge amount of tears once we reach end game 20/40 man raids.

Here is a preview of what SR raids look like in a 40 man:

  • You’re in a raid with 8 bosses, you need an item from many bosses but you SR a drop from boss 2
  • You kill boss 2, your item does not drop
  • You check the SR list to find that every other item you do need on future bosses is SRd by other people
  • You realise that you will now get zero reward for finishing this raid
  • Bonus: the group is not very strong and you are wiping on boss 3
  • Oops! Looks like you have a power outage!

repeat for multiple people

No way someone stood in a raid for 9 hours.

No way 39 other people did too.

I’ve forced my raid back in vanilla classic to sit through a 6 hour raid for prog, it was horrible and 2 people quit the game shortly after, we weren’t even that hardcore.
I can see 9 hours happening, especially around launch dates for prog.

It happened on very first week of BWL release and guild leader said we absolutely had to down nefarian week 1 no matter what (…)

They forced me to come as carry since I was full rank 14 gear while everyone else was in MC gear. Was not allowed to refuse

You’re griefing yourself by playing SoD at all.

Just play Era if you want decent raids / pvp - SoD is under-tuning all the pve and micromanging the pvp / player interactions.

There’s a partial answer to this.

From now on when I host pugs with MS>OS or SR. I’m holding onto the item until it nears its two hour trade period or the last boss is dead. This will ensure people will get the gear they need but also have a reason to stick around. If it doesn’t drop then they would probably leave still.

But also people on the forums are screaming like all these MS>OS pugs fall apart every second. I’ve only had one person leave ever out of the countless pug runs I’ve done. This is just a fragile GDKP mindset that will overall ruin the experience for everyone else. These GDKPers have to ruin the game someway, somehow. Whether it’s buying gold, ruining the eco or leaving runs.

Grow up.

The bigger issue with MS > OS or SR is that they greatly benefit undergeared players. There is no ‘bonus’ for top dps or heals. There is no punishment for low performing players. Nobody is incentivized to even consume unless they care about their parses.

Low geared players can just SR the rare items and the standard drops will automatically go to them since geared players already have them.

Thus geared players are incentivized to be really picky about who they bring to runs so to avoid losing to hard-to-get item to someone in greens that isn’t even consuming.

Join a guild. Either way you’re not getting GDKP back.

It’s not an issue now in BFD because it’s a cake walk 30 minute raid on a 3 day timer.

Wait until you get into longer raids with longer cool downs, it absolutely becomes a problem that’s common enough.

I’d just uninstall if gdkp was my only reason for playing a video game tbh. Instead of crying on the forums about how I’ll never raid again.

It’s the same raid whether you do it in a GDKP or other wise /shrug

Oh he came to your house held a gun to your head and forced you to play?

Pugs have always been inefficient for geared players. If you wanted to actively get good gear and not worry about being screwed over, you’d join a guild. I think everyone should join a guild and it’s extremely easy to.

Yes - and guild runs become the same when you are bis - spending tons of gold on consumes for no potential reward.

Thus, by removing GDKPs there will be a massive reduction of geared players attending raids, thus a massive reduction in supply of raids. This will ultimately make it hard for the lower tier players to get geared.

The better players will have no problems with or without gdkps.

What a lot of anti-GDKP players didn’t realize is that every GDKP has buyers, carries and hybrids.

  • Buyers and hybrids will now be competing with the non-GDKP players in spots for the SR / guild raids.
  • Carries will stop raiding thus reducing total amount of raids.

So SR players that struggled to find spots in raids will now have a much harder time.

You are of an entitled SR player mindset, who probably think it’s OK to have poorly organized run, rewards under geared under contributing player with free loot, while penalizing geared experienced people who are only trying to help (who, I hope won’t join your runs)

And yea ending posts with “grow up” makes you sound like such an adult LOL

Apparently it’s an entirely different raid for OP without gold lol.

And if you’re raiding in a guild GDKP’s are completely irrelevant to you.
