Here is an example of a possible fix:
*As a note This should NOT effect players who wish to stay in Vanilla
Players with a gold amount of 5k and higher have their gold reduced to 4.5k
Players with a gold amount between 2.5k-5k have their gold reduced to 2k
Players with a gold amount between 1.25k-2.5k have their gold reduced to 1k
Players with a gold amount of 1.25k and lower remain completely unaffected
Back in TBC people had to work and save up for their flying, it wasn’t easy but it felt good to accomplish. Now it would be too easy, as people have hundreds-of-thousands in gold that they can just give away to many people, destroying the purpose of an economy and killing that EPIC feeling of FINALLY getting your epic flying for the FIRST time! Sadly though, me and I’m sure many others, will feel like the best course of action will be to join a guild to get “mount assistance” aka mount welfare, being beholden to the wealthy players. This would be a terrible social dynamic for game, one that shouldn’t exist.
The 30 dungeon per day limit, and other adjustments, would have helped if they were made sooner, but by then it was too late. We are in a better position to make sure things are better going into Classic TBC, but that can only happen through a little bit of a reset, via a carefully calculated gold squish.

so guy with 5k loses 500g, but the person with 4.9k loses 2.9k? needs some work.
edit: just make alts to spread the money to! every character has under 1.25k ez clap.
Counter-Idea, I put all my gold into different character and/or accounts so these ideas don’t take away what I worked honestly to get and prepare. No to gold caps nor squishes.

I think everyone on the server should have a communal gold pool to spend from.

The problem is with any type of gold’s question all it’s going to do is you heard the players that actually legitimately farmed that.
Because the thing is Event those players bought that gold or bought it it well what stops knows players from just doing that again
Okay so what will you do when I just invest in JC/profession mats that will hold and gain value in tbc then cash out?
The thing is though, less gold will be circulating either way, and all you would doing is lowering the value of old mats. So you wouldn’t get as much as ya think.
Dude if you don’t think a mage has EASILY more than 5k legit gold at this point, idk what to tell you. Im a freaking resto shaman that only runs GDKPs for money and I’ve got 8k lmao. Was a portion originally bought with RMT? Yeah probably, but I didn’t buy it. The economy is massively inflated compared to Vanilla because of extremely efficient gold farms and Blizzard’s failures to keep bots and RMT in check. Don’t hate the player hate the game.
Considering the general public, fair enough. But legit, I did actually farm all my gold. I see buying gold as cheating and demeans the value of what is earned. Though I will say that GDKPs are a gray area in that respect as I have involved myself in them obviously. But I didn’t really buy gear, just funneled gold from it.
You people really need to accept that some people will always have more gold than you.
That not my issue, I’m just afraid it will trickle down to other players and trivialize gold making .
oh itll be pretty trivialized in tbc, people have been researching the best and most efficient ways for over a decade.

No matter what you do, the status quo will always return. There will always be people who put in effort to earn as much gold as possible. A squish would only temporarily even things out, the goblins of the world will quickly amass large fortunes and you’ll be right back where you started.
some people are good at gold making. just wait til wrath classic. people will make gold cap with inscription entirely by buying herbs and turning them into things and selling those things.
i have more than once this expansion, in retail. made over 200k in one night doing that. and i only do it, and only with inscripton, when i spend all my gold on mogs and things. you can turn 15k into 200k in a few hours, easily. everyone tells people to not be a scribe because it makes “no gold” so you have the market mostly to yourself and you get to set the prices.
Even with the daily dungeon cap?
Yes, lol. What, you think dungeons are the only place to make gold? It’ll be lucrative but every goblin knows you make your best money on the AH.
you keep asking questions but choose to befriend the 2nd least coherent and most unintelligent person on this forum lol. you have your mind made up buddy, stop beating around the bush.
I think what would work better is just cutting everyones gold by a certain percentage. Just tax everyone 25% or something.
then people will just invest in items that they can sell for bought value/profit like an earlier poster said. not difficult to get around.
