You’re smart. I like you. And ty. I didn’t know and I haven’t played other games that have tinkers either.
No /10chars.
But seriously, this class idea doesn’t get any more bland and boring sounding. Even less so if they restrict it to like 6 races or less. Add something real like a Dragon Knight, Necromancer, Blademasters, Witch Doctors, etc… anything else would be more interesting than this lol.
Edit: Adding Spellbreaker/Spellblade to the list too.
Yawn. Not part of WarCraft 3
Death Knights literally raise the undead.
Necromancer are the most overplayed trope in all of fantasy… that or Dragon Knights.
Hey this one actually is part of WarCraft!
But it has a few issues.
Bladestorm is already on Warrior.
Mirror Image is already on mage.
And While Windwalk is technically a monk ability, Rogue’s stealth is the closest ability we have to the Original Windwalk.
Blademaster could be really interesting, but I don’t think now is the time to add an Agility using Melee class…
After our last agility using melee class
After our LAST agility using melee class.
Bad idea. Go with something unique like Tinker.
It’s unique to all the existing classes, and used Intellect.
Missiles, Mechs, Machines, and Turrets is all very unique.
I don’t care if it’s part of Warcraft or not. The game needs innovative ideas not a boring tech-based class in a fantasy world.
You say it’s boring.
Is that your only point? Because plenty of people don’t find it boring.
I think it would be a great addition because it’s unique, it’s new.
It doesn’t step on the toes of existing classes.
And it would supplement a fantasy that NPCs can do already and players can’t.
These are all legitimate reasons
If we get tinkers I’ll be so done with wow…
But on a serious note I’m really hoping for necromancers or if going with a dragon themed class something like dragon knights
Why exactly?
Just read what the op said. That’s why I said it.
I’m not following you. You’ll quit World of Warcraft because OP wants Tinkers, Regardless of next expansions’ theme?
Exactly. People play this game largely because of its high fantasy aesthetic–tinker is just a garbage aesthetic and the worst possible class idea. it’s also a huge, huge slap in the face because we already have engineering, and we’d basically be getting some sort of rehashed, reimagined version of it, i.e–nothing truly unique or new.
that’s truly not what people want from a game like WoW.
we should be seeing more discussion and concepts about new, interesting class ideas, instead of just the same old tired three. we want something that has that iconic WoW feeling, something in the same breath as the iconic vanilla intro cinematic. not some garbage shooter or mech stuff that clearly belongs in another game.
Like I always say, steam punk / sci fi elements are always best when they are a small subset of the whole aesthetic and not a dominating force. It risks muddying up the waters too much. And funnily enough, I actually have engineering as a profession. I appreciate the profession engineering since that’s really what tinker is, and I enjoy it for the small, niche part of the game it is. And it should always stay there.
We need a new spellcaster class. We have never had a new one yet. Maybe it would have something to do with dragons. Something like that is what people really crave. Something like that has WoW written all over it. And, that’s what prospective players who have never dipped their toes into WoW, when they see it at the 10.0 announce, would come screaming here for.
We also could use another mail wearing class but unsure if it takes priority over a spellcaster. You’re right in that we haven’t actually had a new one at all since launch. Every new class has been melee/hybrid in some form.
Yeah, maybe if you’re a Human Paladin. Or a High Elf Ranger.
Will you like that High-Fantasy aesthetic with a side of Non-toasted white bread?
Some people like the more interesting parts of WoW, not the stuff you get in any other boring fantasy universe.
And take a shot.
You literally described Tinker. They’ve been in WoW since Vanilla.
So… 1 out of 13 classes being steampunk doesn’t fit that criteria?
You are describing tinker pretty perfectly.
If you want to be high fantasy, no one is stopping you.
But why should we be prevented from embracing the fantasy WE enjoy about world of WarCraft?
WoW has high fantasy elements, but it also has Sci Fi and steampunk elements.
Should players not be allowed to enjoy those?
the iron is hot
tinkers are the true ‘break the glass’ option for blizzard right now
but istg if they have a melee spec I’m gonna lose my mind
we don’t need more physical specs
and I say this as a hardcore melee stan who plays exclusively melee
If Blizzard uses the template they already designed in BFA it will be Ranged DPS, Ranged Healer, Melee Tank.
I’d like that because it’s unique.
I’m just fearful what spells they’re gonna cannibalize
they’ve done it for every new class so far in some way
All of the cannibalizing that I’ve seen has been classes taking Abilities from WC3, that were originally theirs, like Demon Hunter taking Metamorph.
That was the Demon Hunter’s ult in WC3, and it was on Warlock.
It’s the same reason I don’t want Dark Ranger or Blade Master, because their abilities are already here on different classes.
But tinker? Doesn’t have that problem.
wotf and lichbourne?
improved hamstring from arms into disable root?
there are a few others but idr them atm
These are functionality changes first and foremost.
None of those examples lost anything related to their “Theme”
Does that make any sense?
Regardless. I’m sure if we get any new class whatsoever, people will be unhappy.
I just want Tinker because it genuinely feels like it’s missing. Goblins and Gnomes don’t have a class that makes sense for them, and Tinker (and Alchemist) is the last hero from WC3 that isn’t represented at all.
Hell, there’s literally a Tinker ON exiles reach, the new tutorial. It’s like Blizzard is mocking us.
That’s why I said it…. face palm
Not certain what your point is, people stop playing for a multitude of reasons, your reason would be no more significant than someone quitting a thematic expansion such as MoP or the addition of yet another edge lord class. Get over yourselves.
What may drive you and others away will bring others back. So it goes with change.
Tinker is the next logical class, if we ever see another. Fills many unused niches in theme and identity throughout while being present in Warcraft’s identity since it’s earliest days.
