For guides on talents and specs which one is better to use? WoW head or Icy
Veins? Back when I played a rogue, I liked that icy veins showed the talents with and without expose armor so I followed that one. I am doing the same with my warrior. From what I remember wowhead’s guides aren’t too much different except some differences here and there. Which is better to use?
There’s nothing wrong with using either for leveling, they’re pretty decent. You can also join the Warrior class discord (Fight Club) for more information.
WoWhead is my personal preference for most WoW guides to do the extra resources available right on the site. Icyveins is solid for a lot of general guides, too, though.
For professions, though, wow-professions has been my go-to for many years.
Either guide is fine… warrior is interesting because both specs are pretty solid to level with.
I personally always did arms in classic until 50s then to fury… But the warrior talents change a lot in tbc so fury might be more favorable.
What the hell is wrong with you for using icyveins.
fury …sweeping strikes till wrath

Sometimes those wowhead guides are severely out of date or just completely wrong
In reality the best place is for sure your class discord.
As always it’s not the source of the guide that matters site wise.
It’s who wrote it and how well it is peer reviewed.
For example the wowhead guide for feral Druids is written by a mod of the class discord and is peer reviewed by quite a few memebers of the class discord icey is one guy just posting his thoughts.
This has changed on a dime without warning some patches for some classes it’s always up to you the user to cross check info as such NEVER only use one source and ALWAYS at min use your class discord which is the only place that is actively being peer reviewed in real time. While there are trolls it is the single best place to check the info you read or better to ask where to find the best starting guide in the first place before starting. The fourms is not really a good place as your asking people that are often not of the class or spec you want what is better which might be for there class or spec but not for the one your after as such incorrect info.
I use Icy because the layout is better and it’s just quick to read over and more fur general use, but WoWhead has a bit more depth imo.
I kinda use both for second opinions but prefer Icy myself.
Its a good point. Wowhead has done a pretty good job in the last year or two of getting actually very good players to write their guides.
I mean they have mythic RWF raiders who do some of the retail ones… best players in the world at their class… nobody better to read a guide from yanno.
Yes they have been doing well and it changed in a period of a patch for many classes and they can quit at any time also.
Without peer review and cross checking wouldent even know as would hate to think joe blow guide was yannos and follow it since the written changes and missed it. Why even the best sources need cross checking and even the best guide writers need peer review as stuff happens. I seen one quite good guide write can vs can’t and changed the entire meaning of a key line before.
I prefer wowhead over icy most of the time.
However, it MUST be said that wowhead is nowhere the site it used to be.
The constant ads and popups and that STUPID video in your face combined with this deep need to spoil latest content, story, and models, makes me sad.
Neither. I don’t use guides at all. I open the talent tree, close my eyes, and start madly clicking my mouse. I call it the “Search and Destroy” meta. Has worked out fine so far. Of course, I main a hunter. I could play naked, with a white bow, and no talent points at all if I wanted to.
Like reality itself, why not both? After all, we don’t live in a simplistic binary universe, as much as that upsets the childish mind of far too many (glances right).
I tend to favor Icy Veins for class considerations but Wowhead for data.
Wowhead usually…USUALLY…has better guides. That doesn’t mean they’re the best, or most up to date, or infallible. I’d highly recommend using your class discord instead.
I’d say the site is way better with an ad blocker/data tainter, but the design is still terrible. You’re right, its gone way downhill.
Try uBlock Origin, I never see ads and popups on Wowhead with it.
Icyveins is way better, wowhead guides are often outdated or with very wrong info.
I tend to use both. I do notice, since there are different people creating the guides for each site, that the guides will sometimes show different builds and suggestions. That’s the thing about the guide though, it’s kind of just a starting point for beginners. There are often times where I will use different abilities than recommended in the guides and come out higher because of my own observations. The guide is to ‘guide’ you, it’s not really the end all, be all.
Really just depends on who writes and maintains them.
I’ve seen really bad WoWhead guides
I’ve seen really bad IV guides.
