I would rather do away with gear upgrading

So you want to divide the player base more, and have fewer people participating in different types of content?

Nope. We’d have to upgrade it and that takes a while.

OP is just acting very strange about all of this. “Give me everything without doing anything, but don’t give me high end stuff.” I don’t even understand it.

Nope.

I don’t.

And the current system is divisive imo. It’s a rat race to the top and world and solo content is being hurt. Whilst ppl are being funneled into M+ and there’s no respect for the casual who doesn’t grind ilvl.

I would rather the openworld and openworld pvp be more balanced and not designed as an afterthought to raids.

More ppl will raid and do M+ if the core game and casual game is stronger and more robust. World content players have literally no progression and are treated like garbage unless we raid or do M+. It’s not that we don’t want to. It’s that we are pushed into it. And that causes ppl to quit. Especially when you get zones and areas like Zaralack. Where the problem isn’t with the content it is the balance of said content. They need to retune the whole place to be enjoyable on a 424 ilvl healer spec with suboptimal secondary stats. They alienated 90% of the population that enjoyed that kind of content in the past in BFA, in Nazjatarr, the maw 4.0, Zerith Mortis. Which where all 900% better.

When you alienate ppl who like to do casual solo stuff and mainspec healers. You generate downstream effects by driving off the type of player who is the backbone of the other gamemodes and who are more social and community oriented.

Without this segment of the population. M+ will slowly crumble raiding participation will decrease even more. There will be less casual recruitment and open pug groups or teams that open up to pugs in premades and the game will silently bleed players as static groups slowly break up overtime.

I mean the TLDR of it is it may seem counter intuitive however, extroverted, neurotypical ppl are really important to the social aspect of this game and counterintuitively we don’t spend all our time raiding or dying or raid logging and doing M+ lobbygame. We are drawn to the hobby cuz we like elfs and orcs and waggly draenei as much as everyone else. However our time isn’t being respected and we are being neglected lol.

Opening up LFR on week whatever 3 or 6 and catalyst on week 8 and shoehorning us into using both these systems is like LOL rly.

The game will completely collapse when the last of us are gone and all content is finished in week3 by the hardcore die hard uber leets. The game will be a ghost town week 3 of every patch and they’ll move on to whatever other thing that helps them be mindful and deal with their compulsive behavior. Which is exploited to some degree by these MMO corps. Lets not kid ourselves. This segment of the population aren’t clearly bad ppl, it’s just not the smartest segment to cater entierly too lol. Wow has gone further and further down this path since WoD rly - and SL was it’s pinacle. The SL content – OK – the game bad. WOrk and chores are not fun. Being weak as a character or passed over because you didn’t spend 300 hrs or buy wow tokens and grind maw/torghast or leggos not fun. The same can be said of “because you didn’t do M+ or raid”.

A little MMORPG history and we should never drop the RPG for a game like wow…

World building was the entire purpose behind the genre, world building, exploration and emergent gameplay. There was no systems design, they just followed the precepts of MUDs (multiuser dungeons) and pen and paper RPGs. Which didn’t have ilvls and all these tiers and the sense of progression was the journey from lvl 1-onward. Not how many M+ a player could time or how many raids a player could attend.

In the original base game you could get pretty strong even without raid gear, the world and craftable gear made you pretty strong in comparison with the majority of content and once you hit that point of being strong there was still content to do outside of raids. Especially if you where helping friends catch up etc.

WoW beat out other MMORPGs because it made this more accessible to casual players even if many of us went through the raid or die phase. I’m one of those ppl who never really made it to 60 in classic, I think I hit 60 or 70 or 80 or whatever it was in WoTLK and for a little while in Cata.

I remember being a lil lvl 34 newb forsaken rogue pvping open world content and just having fun roaming around that lil area near silverpine-hlillsbarad or whatever…

The only other time I felt this kind of immersion was BFA just before and during is Nazjatarr patch cycle, they nailed those patches really well even if the games story was LOL which unfortunately jaded everyone and made the devs pivot their gameplay when the game play was spot on despite the gripes. Had the gameplay just stayed static in that patch forever and they kept releasing solid content over more tuning and tweaks the game would be in a better place. SLs systems would never have happened lol. We wouldn’t be talking about this now.

Pass, I am enjoying finally being able to upgrade my raid gear. It allows me some room for when I don’t get that upgrade from the next tier right away.

I like the upgrade system. You’re given a system of progression for the content you’re doing. I don’t have to take my alts into normal to gear them up enough to make world content easier. The content I do them with just gets easier as I do that content now. It’s great.

I’m kind of mixed on the upgrade system.

I feel it’s kind of obliterated why they started staggering raid item levels to begin with which is later bosses are harder and therefore give better gear.

There is no difference in any mythic+ gear other than what track it falls on, especially in 10.1.5.

Make all the tokens into currency and make it account bound and id be happy. Honestly ive been pretty easily 8/8ing my gear.

For what it’s worth WoW never cared about “world” players through its launch, peak, and later fall.

It wasn’t until Legion, expansion number 6, that Blizzard decided to start throwing gear at “world” players.

So it’s hardly the key that held WoW together or made it the MMO king.

Hard to compare anything from the really old days until now. Gamers were different back in those days.

You’re taking a lot of liberties with other’s opinions. The overwhelming feedback from world content players for years has been that they want more soloable content with no requirements for grouping, and that they’re not interested in m+/raiding.

Time investment should be respected, its about damn time Ion got the memo. This patch is 5x better. than 10.0

Yes and no, yes it does have you do alot of ginding, but thats the nature of an RPG, however the system they added make alot more gear relivent, it means that rashoks heart you got in LFR wont be needing a replacement unless your raiding heroics, and you normal gear can become the same as heroic gear unless your raiding mythic, it help stop alot of regrinding gor the same item at a higher item level and makes it so raid and M+ gear is useful, people like there gear, and having access to higher levels of gear easier is (atleast in my opinion) better, since it also rewards time.

I have a lot of duplicate items in my bags and bank and it is very frustrating to tell which has secondary stats blahblah this season too I mean I guess I am lucky I have the privilege and luxury of deciding butt ehhh ! LOL

So having veteran and champion dupes of suffused gear is a hot mess btw.

Same with hero/champion dupes of stuff. You don’t need explorer>herioc with the way the currencies work. Simply making all gear upgradable would have been better.

Between the pvp gearing system and this… and I pvp and world pvp… I raid sometimes and do dungeons on two specs…

This expansion is a hot mess gear wise.

I just logged out fustrated going through my bags of gear. It’s really not fun at all.

I would just be thankful their isn’t a chance to fail the upgrade which i personally would have even more fun with. Then you better hope they dont go full kmmo and have the item destoryed on item upgrade failure. Then youll need backups for everything before upgrading.

I want more of the bejeweled and uncross the lines world quests. Those were always fun. Even the trace the shape one was good.

I may even be persuaded to help some turtles make it to the water.

You want to make silver mobs soloable but make mechanics that require healer? Which is it ?

No i don’t. Just silver mobs with interesting mechanics anyone can do including healers.

2 things
1:the over lap is so if you doing say heroic, unless your doing mythic, normal gear can upgrade the to the same point, so again to minimize the regrinding.
2: if your only doing world content with the odd dugeon/raid, then having the perfect stats doesnt matter, if youve already upgraded a piece, dont worry about it and upgrade 1 thats a lower ilvl, and be honest with yourself on the level of content your going to do, if your not doing 15 keys or heroic raiding then veteran gear is effectively the same as champion gear, both get you to 424.

No thanks. I like the new system.
