I’m interested in rolling an alt specifically for PvP, either with warmode or just random BGs. But I’m quite terrible at the playstyle.
Would anybody have any advice on what class/spec would be best for a beginner PvP?
I’ve done some innitial googling on this, and all the results I’ve found so far are a couple years old. But of those posts they’ve been suggesting DH or Ret Pally.
I don’t really know how to answer this because the class you roll should reflect your own tastes. I suppose you could roll druid and switch in between specs to find what spec you like best and go from there.
I’ve played around with all the classes/specs, just not in PvP. My issue is the difference in skill between me and others. I’m hoping that there’ll be some class that I can learn which has a relatively low skill ceiling. Or at least an easy learning curve.
I’ve never played warrior but everyone always says its super easy.
play a class with multiple specs… such as DPS/HEALER/TANK and change in between see what works… Monk, Druid, Paladin, so on, these classes are good because you get cool difference
If you like Melee, Ret Paladin is a good place to start. DH is good too, plus you start out at level 98.
Both are also good at WPVP
If that mage is your main and you are used to range, there is a really good chance that you will HATE melee. You should be sure of this before you make your choice.
If you’d like to stick with ranged, both Priest and Druid will give you opportunities for top-tier ranged damage, and the ability to queue as heals too, which you may end up enjoying.

But I also have a 120 paladin but haven’t been PvPing with him.
I made a priest and was running BGs at low levels as Disc. It was good, but when queueing solo I found that I would get focused and killed fast because the group I was healing weren’t working together. I think if I found a group I was gonna play with regularly I would very much enjoy being their pocket healer, but for random BGs and warmode, it doesn’t seem like it’ll work well.
OK. Yes, it can be frustrating to heal random battlegrounds, for sure.
When you PvP now, what opposing class do you find super annoying? Maybe that’s the one you’d get a kick out of.

Enhancement Shammy might be good in a few weeks.
That’s actually what I would recommend. Moreso Pally over DH. Let’s say Pally has a bit more “oops” protection.
I really dunno why people cry about pallies so much, except if they expect to win every 1v1 against one. I also don’t know if people are crying about holy, prot, or ret because they use the word “pally” as if we have the ability to play all specs at the same time. Also, I’ve seen people who actually play pally - in addition to other classes - who say it’s no ‘easier’ than any other.
I also play an aff lock and find it ‘easier’ to play than my ret pally because I find it’s style, function, and abilities more fun - not because it is overpowered in any sense.
So unless you play a pally (again, not sure what spec you think is ‘OP’) regularly in BGs, I would not trust your opinion about what can handle more ‘oops’ than other classes, unless you’re honest and describe your own poor play - or expectation that the game is built around 1v1 and your demand to win every one against any pally.
What type of playstyle are you interested in for PvP? Sneaky? Aggressive? Versatile?
What would you like or not like to be doing in BG’S? Chasing? Kiting? Lots of damage?
What are the things that are most important to you? Damage? Mobility? Utility? Survivability?
I think if you want a durable caster you could go boomy or warlock.
If you want to try melee ret pally has a pretty low threshold, but it does taper off.
Yeah it’s sounding like boomkin might make sense here.
Has too many tricks, toys, and resets considering their burst potential. Every time I fight one I just get the feeling that I am fighting someone who thinks they’re an IRL badass. And you know that every human one you fight is styled after either themselves, or their favorite Pornhub chanel content creator.
So true. As a Tauren main, I love the sound of Human Male dying. Only second to Blood Elf anything dying.

I personally would go with a ranged class you can ping people and run away if you’re terrible at PVP.
Your first goal should be learning how to survive.
I got my 115,000 kills as Ret, years ago. It’s not easy.
