I won't pay to carry my character on from classic

So you have to pay $35 to have a clone made to stay in Classic while the other moves into TBC.

Sounds about right to me.

You basically get an additional toon: one forever in Classic and one skipping merrily into TBC.

If you don’t want to pay, you have a few options:

  1. Keep playing your Classic toon and not move them into TBC.
    OR
  2. Move your Classic toon into TBC like we all did when the first expansion launched.
    OR
  3. Keep your Classic toon in Classic, then start a new toon in TBC.

Sounds eminently fair to me.

Hate them? Not at all but I do miss a couple of the old zones - Thousand Needles and Azshara come to mind.

For me, 1k Needles was interesting the first time I ran through it but after that, it became really tedious. That zone was so freaking big.

Azshara was dead. It has a dragon, like one quest and nothing else. I think the quarry and the roller coaster was a huge improvement.

LOL… that’s why I liked it. Other than the little Gnome house and ruins it was just great to explore and relax it.

i played alliance at the time. didn’t play earlier MMOs. i had no history with wacraft but loved diablo. though if ff11 had been like what ff14 eventually became i’d have likely played it instead. the appeal to me was accessibility and casual friendliness vs the other options at the time. funny considering how the game has progressed. lol

  1. They’re creating special Classic servers just for you people. There is nothing like this on Retail so you gotta pay up. It’s only fair.

  2. Wrong forum.

Massive is subjective. If you read the post I said it is payable but I will not be gouged. It is the definition of gouging to make a product or service that is nearly free for blizzard to do $35 dollars also the aspect that there is potentially a huge amount of pent up demand from your stimulas checks and wellfare that has been recivieved over the carona virus ( which is actually more than a lot of people normally earn). Having such an exobodant price in this situaations is definitionally nearly word for word price gouging.

how is it gouging?
you get an extra character.

so you want a second character, free of charge, “just because”?

how is it “nearly free” for blizzard? …and why do you think they owe you anything?

at the very least, it’s taking up space on their servers.

like others have said, you’d probably get more sympathy posting in the appropriate forum.
it doesn’t look like many retail players care about your classic woes (and sense of entitlement)

Im over responding to people who clearly haven’t read what I have written or comprehend the definition of price gouging.

i read the entire thread… and your problem is… your problem.

when original TBC launched, nobody got to stay on vanilla servers.

with classic, people are being given different options.

it’s not price gouging.
i don’t understand why you think you’re entitled to a free character

(although i was under the impression from previous talk, that people would be eligible for a boost, unless that changed?)

(edit) i just went searching… a one time boost will be available, and it may be cheaper than a character copy… but i didn’t see any prices

Blizzard is providing you a SPECIAL service not available anywhere else in World of Warcraft.

Of course you gotta pay up. No excuses.

Dark Portal Pass - $39.99

  • Boost one character on a Burning Crusade Classic realm to level 58 (limit one per World of Warcraft account; not usable on blood elf or draenei characters).

Same here, but for me I miss the original Ashenvale. So huge and Night Elven forest-y. I was more upset over the logging in Ashenvale than the burning of Teldrassil.

But Cata did some beautiful things like reworking Stonetalon Mountains and Desolace into great experiences.

Also Cata made Vashjir, which remains a favorite of mine even if I don’t think a fully aquatic zone should be tried again.

At least you can copy 'em.
I want to pay to copy my alts to another server.

This is definitely a big factor, with the gigatons of gold gathered by RMT botters getting laundered through GDKP runs a lot of players have accumulated amounts of gold that would make the eyes of the richest Vanilla players water.

This is one time where I would say: You should be grateful to Blizzard for even allowing you to stay in Classic when they have moved to TBC.

Buy some wow tokens? Pay with gold.

Exactly.
I’m jealous, I want to copy on retail lol…
Imagine my gold making potential :smiling_imp:

It is price gouging because

  • 1 the consumer surplus of profit to customer value is far in favor of blizzard and not even close to value to the customer. ( Which I explained we know multiple times because blizzard allows players to copy characters over to different servers all the time for testing purposes without charging people).
  • 2 It is exploiting pent up demand (Purchasing power) due to people having on average more money from collecting stimulas checks and doll payments for not working that are higher than what they got when they work.

Now lets look at a wikipedia definition of price gouging: “Price gouging occurs when a seller increases the prices of goods, services or commodities to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair. Usually, this event occurs after a demand or supply shock.”

Now your second people why do I think I should get a free character?
I DON’T. I have never said I want a free character you guys have made that up out of thin air BECAUSE YOU DONT read the damn posts you make your own reality up in your brains.
What I object to is a damn 35 dollar US. If the price was more reasonable AKA closer to a better CONSUMER value point instead of a PRODUCER SURPLUS value point, then it would be ok.

That word right there seems to be the key here.
