open your launcher. for retail it says “world of warcraft.” for classic it says “world of warcraft classic.” when tbc is released it will likely say “world of warcraft burning crusade classic.” they’re 3 separate games. which is why all 3 have separate places you talk about them. no matter how many times you try to open “world of warcraft” on the launcher will it launch anything but retail.

no it isn’t. the classic forums has it’s own general discussion. as does tbc classic. they both literally say"general discussion" in their sub forum names.
edit: tbc’s says discussion. but it’s the tbc GD.

people on the classic forums flag you down for posting about retail at all on “their” forums. if you make a thread on classics GD even on accident and say so, they still do. the fact that people in retail’s GD just tell you to post in the appropriate place and don’t flag you for spam (which there’s enough ot posts related to it that it IS spam) should be appreciated. classic only players aren’t that nice.

they don’t want the servers to be full of toons no one will ever play. i explained it a long while ago but dude doesn’t want to accept it. most people who play classic will abandon it entirely once tbc classic comes out. blizz promised classic vanilla would always exist even if no one played it. the servers will always exist. a few people will play classic forever. they aren’t all necessarily on the same server. eventually blizz will have to consolidate servers. if everyone could copy 7983475345 characters but never log into them instead of just having the characters not exist in classic anymore they will have no way of knowing what they need to combine with what until it’s too late.

From what I read, $35 is charged if you want to clone an existing character to the new TBC Classic server. If you choose to continue progressing a character by moving it to TBC Classic, it is free.
No its free to go to TBC but if you want a clone left behind at classic, then pay up
No. This is for retail WoW. Classic and TBC have their own GD and this complaint it lost here. TBC blues aren’t going to see this here.

The fact that they are making it paid transfers already makes it different then original BC.
Having the copy for free would actually be closer to the original where your toon would progress into the new xpac with the stuff it had from the previous one.
$35 is almost the cost of BC when it was originally released in early 07.
It is almost like they are going “Hey if you want to continue with your toon in this updated version of old stuff , you’re gonna need to pay the price of an xpac to do so but at a very very and we mean very slightly discounted xpansion price”.
Yea silly you have to pay for something, when they could easily offer such a nice generous offer to its fans.
I even tried to get a refund for my 6 month sub, and they refused lol

So it’s $35 to clone your Classic toon on a TBC-Classic server, while leaving the original toon on its original, Classic-only server? Am I understanding that right?

have you been to the classic forums lately? people saying they would QUIT classic if it paid for retail. except blizz has been clear since the beginning the sub pays for RETAIL and you get classic for free with the sub to retail. same will be true of classic tbc.

Classic BC free and $35 to copy a toon over from Classic Vanilla.
Looks like Blizz is pretty much charging an expansion pack fee to let players do what they got to do in the original version .
