It is an analogous function: triggering an immune response from a controlled, introduced catalyst. Times change. Science is constantly iterating.
I can say anything I want on the intarweb, but I aced genetics, gritted through chem, ochem, molecular bio, etc (read: pre-med). I’ll stick with the scientific consensus.
If the anti-vaxx quacks only Darwin’d themselves, I could simply shrug, but that propagandist twaddle is killing collateral people or saddling them with long term poor health. Not okay.

then as you’ve had all that fine education, have you once sat down and read the ingredients to each of these so-called vaccines? are you able to pronounce some of the ingredients without any degree of difficulty (and don’t try the bs with “saline”) you should recognize the organic chemistry compounds. there’s also no such thing as “scientific consensus” the scientific community can’t even come to a “consensus” on whether masks work or not, so keep that bs to yourself. You bought into the fearmongering, and trying (unsuccessfully) to let me know you’re educated, so be it, but you apparently need to study virology and immunology before you aught to make judgments on whether anyone should or should not take an experimental drug.

they bought it all, the entire enchilada, have lost all objectivity or ability to critically think, and have willingly become pawns for fundraising for bad actors
it is depressing to watch but thankfully they are a minority of the nation by a significant margin and it is growing smaller every day

i would kind of assume that most people read their toothpaste, and can pronounce stuff like monofluorophosphate…
the thing about masks… is the amount of variables.
but regardless of how individuals feel about them, wearing a mask is quite literally the VERY LEAST that people can do.
Just wear the darn things.
it doesn’t matter if they don’t work how people THINK they should, or how people expect them to… it matters that people are making at least some minor attempt to try and keep their saliva localized, and not spray everyone in their vicinity with spit while the world is enduring a pandemic.

I’d say perhaps a little less than half in my guild have, the rest haven’t said whether they are or not. Personally I don’t care, it’s their choice to make, and it always was their choice and what their doctor recommends.

Let’s be real. You inhale wayyyyyy more toxins in just 1 minute of sitting in traffic during your work commute than you would get from the vaccine. You ever eat fish? Mercury. Lots of Mercury. Vegetables? Pesticide. Cows/Chickens? Bacteria. Our world is full of toxins. I doubt you even give it a second thought as you cram a double quarter pounder down your gullet. But now suddenly a miniscule amount of preservatives in a vaccine is a problem for you?

1.3 million die in car accidents, so we make cars safer by adding seat belts, improving how a car does in an accident and better training.
If you were correct, the solution to covid wouldn’t be taking a vaccine (seatbelts); it would be indefinite lock downs (can’t spread if you’re never in contact with people - much like you can’t have a car accident if there are no cars)
it’s horrific.
we all encounter it at some point, and everyone who ever comes into contact with it, ends up dead.
get it into your lungs, and you’re pretty much an instant gonner.
it must be one of the most deadly things on the planet… people should be out in the streets protesting against it! (just not in the rain!)

I got the J&J vaccine through the VA back in April. I had a relatively strong reaction to it (low fever, chills, headache) but it only lasted a day. I am fine now. But worried about the efficacy of the J&J. Most people got pfizer or moderna and I haven’t seen anything on how well the J&J works yet.
What about long Covid? There are people who got it, survived, but now still deal with long term effects (reduced lung function etc).
