I wish WoW was more... Grim-Dark

There’s not much else to it. Its to frilly. To happy. To safe. I had half expected the Nerubian Palace to be gritty. Dark and terrifying. Instead it was as if someone took grey, purple, and brown playdoh and slapped it around a bit. Threw some spiders and said: “Looks good to me.”

 Stop making everything family friendly and take some risks. Start throwing blood on the floor. Kill some people and let us have some gorefest stylized fun. Because right now, Warcraft doesn’t feel Warcraft. It feels like Safespace Simulator.

I completely disagree!
Nerub’ar Palace is a very atmospheric and well-designed raid. From the Queen’s platform, I can see Ovi’nax chamber and the Princess’s chamber.
The aesthetic of Nerub’ar Palace is absolutely amazing; the raid is excellently crafted.

What I would really like, though, is for them to demolish the modern version of Orgrimmar and bring back the Vanilla version, with its tent-covered design and shadowy ambiance.
The color palette of modern Orgrimmar is terrible.

There is enough grimness already. We need the levity.

Yes, this is one of the very few things SL actually did better.

For example Torghast, Sanctum of Domination, the Maw, Revendreth and its instances were all just better in this.

In DF and later, wow is a very modest version of its old self.

Azj-Kahet for example should a very dangerous area for us, but it is not. Neither story or rpg-wise, nor gameplay-wise.

Just make up your own stories then. That’s what I do when I wanna dip into something Rated M for 2 seconds

WoW has been bright and toony since the beginning.

Funny seeing a Skyrim/Oblivion horse in WoW.

bruh, you are playing a cartoonish video game where one of the oldest memes is having brightly colored mismatched gear.
this game was never HALF as dark and gritty like you want to pretend it was.

There’s some dark stuff to be sure. In this expansion, the narrative threads around the puppet-master is dark to me.

Even going back to WC1 this franchise been steeped in silliness.

Yeah, you’re right.

Man, more domination in these pets than the Shadowlands.

Sure, and I wish WoW had more half-dressed catgirls, but neither of us is going to get our wish. I mean, they’ve had a line where WoW is for 20 years, they’re not gonna move it for our sakes.

OP, do you routinely go to concerts and say “I know this is Beyonce, but I really wish she’d play something by Megadeth”?

Now I’m wondering how that would turn out.

I think I’d rather hear Megadeth do a Beyonce song (in their own style).

I bet she could tho. The bigger question is could MD pull off Beyonce tunes?

Not everything needs to be dark and gritty.

That’s what Diablo is for.

Agree.

The colorful over the top brightness at times is just a so much… the story is far too kid gloves as well, it’s incredibly forgettable. I wish we could go into a darker direction… I don’t think the art is bad, but I definitely agree on the grim-dark.

I bet it’d be pretty sweet, I used to have a “punk goes pop” tape that had tracks like New Found Glory nailing that song from Titanic.

If you want grimdark, you should probably consider getting into Warhammer 40k.

They want to appeal to children and women, it’s never going to happen.

Even though we know there are women who exist, lots of them, who love horror, gore, gruesome things.

Nah. I like how it’s somewhat family friendly. Lot of other games with a dark feeling.
