How about in a premade with T2-T3 gear? All of this is just guesswork of course, because 1.5 AV has never existed with 1.12 talents and gear.
While I canât recall when I first starting playing AV as far as patch cycle I do believe I was 60 and raiding prior to ZG patch and definitely before AQ war effort as far I remember. And I remember that the Zerg was pretty much consistently the strategy on my realm (NA Bronzebeard PVE) I was generally involved in a defense of towers, although back capping a bunker is good strategy also. It wasnât just pure Zerg but we knew you cap out the towers and then down the boss. You want to win and that was the effective strategy. Even with a 1.5 unless the enemy intentionally turtles people are gonna attempt to Zerg with some defense of towers and recap of bunkers. Also some ninjas to disrupt unguarded graveyards and such. AV was definitely my favorite PvP and one of my favorite experiences, easily probably my most favorite. Being vocal in strategy was one of my favorite parts. And 1.12 is not diminishing my excitement
Look itâs not complicated, just have 1.5 AV, with 1.12 talents, itâs not difficult
I dunno, thatâs why I said closer to 10. It would be hard to say what a group of t2 or t3 gear players would be able to do as far as zerging 1.5.
Positive it wouldnât be realistically possible, unless we had a 40m premade or multiboxer trying. And even then, the possibility would be a stretch.
Iâm positive that people can learn to do it without being part of a premade. Not every pug player is chest deep in the stupid pond.
Why wouldnât it be realistically possible? Tell me what would stop that premade from rushing Drek in 1.5 AV.
Except that you forget that defense was actually a viable strat in 1.5, as the defenders had a significant advantage over offense.
Especially Alliance.
Defense is also a viable strat in 1.12âŠ
Landmines heavily hinder premades from zerging. Even though there is paths, all it takes is one doofus to stray off the path and hit two mines that kills 10 people.
A player who never did pre 1.11 AV
Except that itâs not nearly as effective, because the NPCs lost their value.
How much weaker are 1.12 NPCâs compared to 1.5 AV. Exact numbers please, tell me which NPCâs were 15% weaker and which were 30% weaker. Tell me exactly how that will play out in a premade with Tier 3 gear.
1.5 AV is more resilient to a zerg than 1.12 AV but to claim it wonât happen (which is what youâre trying to do) is ludicrous.
You know what else? Every note I see about the NPC power reduction only says âpower.â It doesnât talk about specifics, it doesnât say if that includes their hitpoints.
Here, private server pre-made 1.5 AV, being zerged in 10 minutes roughly from the time stamp to Van being dead.
So tell me again why 1.5 canât be zerged? Or that players wonât zerg 1.5?
You can read the patch notes yourself, and see how the NPCs were either nerfed, and/or straight up removed.
And the zerging wonât happen like you say, simply because there was so much more to do in 1.5 AV, other than just zerg towers and kill a few bosses.
Tell me how many times you have picked up the AV quests, and actually gone to places like Wildpaw Cavern since the changes to AV.
There used to be reasons to do the quests, and active in-BG rewards for doing them, that helped your team.
I have seen Ivus summoned 3-4 times in over a decade.
There was tons of random elite mobs running around, mine layers for example, that prevented you from just running by. The guard pats could 3 shot you and you where not able to just âgo around themâ because the entire snow area was covered in mines that would 2 shot you.
You couldnât just go slowly either due to the vast increase of guards and the fact that the archers where pushing your poop in with a constant barrage of shots. You had to take towers before you could push foward. you had to have a tank a and team to kill a mine layer. You had to move as a massive force to try any zerg method usually to see half of the zerg die to mines, npcs, and mages and the ones who got past would hold out and eventually die to enemy players just poking them down while thye turtled in a area. I donât think that there is any valid sources that show health pools of the mobs but in footage you could see substantial damage differences in what the npcs would do to you.
Iâm not saying Defense isnât âviableâ just not exactly optimal for a win. Only takes a group of ninjas to snuff out your GY and bam your turtle mode is in trouble. It really comes down to the players regardless of which AV you get. If you want to turtle in 1.12 Iâm sure it is a viable option. Going towards the alliance base there is a choke point just prior to the second to last GY, we know this spot. You can play defense but your best set up is probably 30 Offense 10 defense.
Tell me how the NPCâs being 15-30% stronger will stop a T2-T3 geared premade from riding straight to Drek or Van and then killing them. Keep in mind these NPCâs, even without being nerfed were designed to be killed by garbage geared players.
âBecause people will always defendâ
Tell me why theyâll always defend in 1.5 and they will never defend in 1.12.
I canât remember the land mines. What and where were they?
Defending in 1.5 was easier due to NPC support. 5 players could hold out against 15 with the help of archers and pats. In the final version of AV people just run past guards, skip towers, andtake the final relief GY and then take two towers - a third if convenient, and then kill the last boss. The entire layout is different.
