I remember them… I cannot say that I was exceptionally fond of them. There were other versions between 1.5 and when they nerfed it that included almost all the components on your list…
To me it was all the NPC’s and how powerful they were, but this is very subjective on who you ask obviously…
I am in favor of a good discussion on this; I hope Blizzard will take notice and consider that the 1.12 version of AV is… not AV.
You finally got the name brand cereal. Sat right down in isle ‘private server,’ cried, and got the cereal. Mama and Papa caved.
Continuing to cry because a few pieces in the bag -1.12AV- aren’t exactly what you remember or want, from the last time you had name brand cereal, is undignified and sad.
Just be happy with the high quality, stable, well maintained cereal. You don’t get it often, you hardly deserve it and it will be almost 100% as delicious as you remember. And infinitely better than the private server, off brand, nasty nuggets you’ve been snacking on.
Blizzard is never going to give people 1.5 even if they go back to an older version. The earliest version you will ever get is the version where they changed the horde starting point.
AV is not a typical BG; that’s actually a reason why people want it back. Right now in BFA you can essentially get the 1.12 AV experience because it’s really similar even if it’s got that dumb resource mechanic. Overall it’s not much different.
AV before the massive NPC exodus and nerf was a very different thing, this is what people have been trying to explain.
Also, being in AV for a win is not the point; the point is participating in the war effort!
Not with out a full 40 man pre-made… Something Blizzard specifically banned as possible in mid Vanilla before they ever Nerfed AV.
There were serveral changes in Vanilla AV before it was Nerfed into the dirt, but that’s a different story.
Most of it was terrain exploits and moving the starting gates, and tuning… Overall the whole thing stayed intact until they removed most of the NPC’s and nerfed them directly.
This same sort of technique was used in 1.3 with the original dungeons.
