1st seasons are always harder than later seasons and this season specifically is ultra punishing and tuned brutally. There is an effective gear wall with 8/8 champion and/or 4/6 heroic due to gilded crests being gatekept pretty hard keeping people “undergeared” making the jump to 8’s and beyond even more difficult.
2 of the tanks are trash tier (monk and DK), 2-3 are ok, and 1-2, as usual, is pretty god tier. Pretty much everyone holds out for a shaman healer…especially this week to half cheese the affix (shamans used to be more OP at it).
I don’t even want to fathom how terrible it is to be a DPS and not already 2400 IO and ilvl 625+.
Well healers did get a slight nerf. Tanks being weaker also doesn’t help. But somehow i still manage to play 3 healers from 2400-3000 rio. Check some guides and play your cds more efficiently. All healers are able to reach 10s easy.
Yup, missed interrupts,. standing.in stupid, failing mechanics that causes a massive AoE to go off. All of which can cook your mana and CD’s in one go to try and stabilize.the group. This season pretty much runs on having to do everything nearly perfectly, they didn’t give any room for error honestly.
Yeah I sensed it was going to be very bad so I didn’t even try. Pushing the playerbase immediately into old +10s at the start is bad design.
It’s designed to be brutally hard because the streamers and people with annoying type A personalities are the ones Blizzard listens to the most and they want it to be that way. Games like Dark Souls are popular and it wants to ride on the coattails of that. I don’t think you became bad per se, it’s just really overtuned and “sweaty.” If you ask them to make something easier and more accessible, they might get rid of that one thing but then add two or three more very challenging mechanics on top of it- making it actually even harder than it was before. It’s just an overtuned mess with so many things going on, only for e-sport players and people who play WoW very competitively. They are trying to challenge the “.5%” of the playerbase, which means then the game mode is virtually impossible for everybody else. So nah it’s not just you lol.
Healers are in a bad spot besides Shaman, only because Ion really likes Shaman lol. You’re also playing the 6th worst Healer in Mythic+ according to the official tier list. Only Holy Priest is behind you. So that probably has a part to play in it as well. I mean yeah yeah people say tier lists only matter at the very top end but they push people into a very uber hard mode right from the get go so I think the tier lists probably matter even more now dependent on skill and sweatlordiness.
This is largely why pugging and moving up keys was bad at the start of the season. At this point, +10s now tend to be populated by enough high level players to carry people through keys.
No, players tend to have higher skill there. Content is just harder for various reasons.
I disagree here. People more than likely have gear to overpower keys that have been nerfed several times. Nothing about people carrying others.
You play with worse players in easier content that makes it harder to fail vs playing with better players in harder content.
Its not you, Friendo, its the pugs. You really need to find yourself a consistent group to run with. Let me tell you a story. My group is pretty solid, but one of our members has a wonky work schedule and we frequently have to pug that fifth spot.
Last night we needed to pug a fifth. We happen upon an enhancement shaman. Enhancement is meta right now for damage plus is strong against this week’s dispel affix. Rating and gear check out so we roll.
And, as luck would have it, this player was awful. They did barely over half the damage of the other two dps, were not dispelling themselves and certainly no poison cleansing totems to help everyone else, two interrupts total, and they stood in everything. I have no idea how they got their rating. (for anyone that has never healed- when one person is taking that much damage you end up with other deaths and wipes because the healer gets behind trying to keep that one person up)
The cherry on top was that once it became clear we weren’t going to time the key they dropped group and so we didn’t even get a 10 completion for the vault. My group is solid and has most of our portals, but we simply could not carry that shaman.
This is a pretty typical occurrence when we pug that last spot. If you’re doing all your runs in pugs I cannot imagine what you’re going through as a healer.
Yeah… Taking my 600 hpal into a +2 Dawnbreaker and watching the entire party almost seemingly deliberately eat every single source of damage they could was depressing.
This whole +10 is the new +20 isn’t all that new. Dragonflight’s S4 implemented that change and +10 wasn’t even remotely close to as difficult as a +10 is now.
DF’s +10 is more like TWW’s +7/8. So if we’re talking raw difficulty/ridiculousness, TWW’s +10 is more like the old system’s +23/24/25.
There’s no “get lucky and clear” once you get into TWW 8’s. You either play at that level and control or you don’t do it at all.
It sure seems that way. I don’t remember having to be this perfect to time +10s (or old +20s before the key lvl squish) in previous seasons and it feels awful.
H Queen was the same until there were several rounds of nerfs - at first, if anyone died in phase 1 it was a wipe because a dead person’s corpse not being in the right position led to additional stacks of a debuff that would kill the group with too many stacks. We needed everyone to be absolutely perfect for the entire phase before the nerfs and that’s not realistic for many AotC raid teams. The final boss in Ara Kara has felt quite similar. I think +10s need nerfs as well, with the +7 affix being removed (maybe replaced with something less punishing).
I was able to get KSH and portals in DF s3/s4 and I want to do the same in TWW. This season has been a struggle. It’s quite frustrating.
