I was speaking % wise here, probs should’ve clarified. But true higher HP does make it easier.
You are not wrong. Most subjects on GD involve a lot of people that don’t realize their perspective is nothing like the norm and cannot consider any other perspective.
I think this is the biggest offender. Brand new dungeons that actually have some decent mechanics to them.
They are woefully over designed and no, it’s not the biggest offender when it comes to the difference between S4 and S1. The biggest offender is bullion gear.
If everyone had an Ansurek trinket on an unlimited track you’d be seeing a few hunnid K more DPS from every person you group with and most keys would be easier as a result.
End of.
He thinks good mechanics are bosses like last one in Ara kara where you
Dodge web circles, dodge adds, dodge the void suck collapse, hit bug but dont step in goo until last second, interrupt to get out of goo but dont be rooted exact same time you do that if someone lines yet again poison that spews out your side or if the web circles hit again. Avoid and aoe pools that are now running around attacking people.( yes you can cheese the void collapse with a leap or teleport but its buggy as hell and doesn’t always work; buggy being a common theme this expansion)
Healer can dispel early but dont be too far but wait spread out and dont be clumped together…
Yeah such amazing design.
“Stack, spread, dispel, don’t dispel yet, kill adds, interrupt, don’t interrupt THAT, dispel but only if your tank reads your mind.”
Etc.
That is the story of this season. We should just admit that TWW S1 was a failure for M+ and hope for better going forward instead of struggling through it and then coming down on anyone with a complaint.
Checking your IO, it seems like you’re hitting the same wall you usually do. This season, though, is just harder and less rewarding. You were able to get myth track before, but now they’ve raised it.
^ This. Ultimately this.
It IS harder. Can we all adjust? Likely not.
Can Blizz adjust the system to keep it in line with what the median M+ player was accustomed to? Absolutely yes.
You can’t have both though. It’s either harder than it was or it is not.
To me it’s insane because they can cap gear but let the progression of title and such keep going. It is an infinitely scaling system anyway, but they want to cut peoples kneecaps out before they even get started.
The game does an awful job of teaching mechanics.
The game does and awful job of teaching you your own rotation. Look at some of the rotational guides in conjunction with weak aura and its insane what is expected.
Breh you can click cast from your spellbook while literally drunk through 99% of this game. Yes. It does a terrible job of preparing people for any kind of challenging content.
People don’t rem how hard Cata heroic’s where at the start in OG cata. But it all got fixed one day. And now, We have this going on.
And it will get nerfed to for the casual players. Just takes time. and complaining.
Kind of in the same boat. I like to get ksh like I did for all of DF up until S4 when I just did remix. I haven’t felt particularly motivated to do a lot of keys so far this season.
I remember because I played through part of Cata and I agree with your ultimate conclusion here. This will be adjusted by one means or another. M+ is still WoW’s flagship mode for PvE play and they won’t end up letting it suffer even for the benefit of tryhards/gatekeepers.
Missed opportunity to say you took an arrow to the knee OP
Due to various reasons, I do think TWW S1 has been one of the toughest M+ seasons for pugging.
But, keep working on upgrading on your gear and practicing. Also, ask pugs to help out with defensives, affix dispels, etc.
I believe you will eventually run into good pug groups and be able to time 9s and 10s.
I have fallen from a 3k healer in previous seasons to just under 2.7k, though I could go a little higher if I wanted to push… but the difficulty from 11s to 12s is frustrating because that’s where people start to get one-shot if they don’t use defensives. Also - yes it took me quite a while to get comfortable going from healing +9 to +10… big jump.
I can totally relate with this. My spec is harder to perform. Keys are harder. I’m kinda done at this point since I don’t really get into alts.
No. This doesnt change the tuning/knowledge/mechanics of dungeons
It doesnt add that much, and most people are going to go for a better throughput choices.
Agreed. You over complicate it which is probably why you find it hard.
Could be age, too.
I used to be rather good at the games I play/played.
I defeated Battletoads and TMNT2 when I was in my teens because my new top-loading NES would not fit the game genie in the slot (I used to practice and play with the game genie when I had a front-loader until it stopped reading the carts).
I would play several SNES games, even the DKC games, getting every single thing in them (101%, 102% and 103% IIRC for those 3 games).
Nowadays… I struggle to clear single levels in Battletoads even after some practice, the DKC games I can hardly clear some of the stages as they seem way too hard.
And plenty of other games I used to clear without a hitch, I use save states for because they’re just too hard. Heck, I booted up Super Mario World not that long ago and I fricken got killed like 3 times on the first few levels. I once did whole playthroughs, finding all the exits, etc in that game.
The reason? Probably because I’m getting old. My reaction times are not what they used to be, I’m just not as sharp as I was. I’m going to be 45 in a few months. I’m not 20 anymore. I don’t have the reactions, the time, or the focus to play and replay levels over and over again.
EDIT: This is also why I usually roll my eyes at the 20 and 30 somethings who go on about “git gud” and “scrub” and “you’re bad” … we’ll see if they’re still doing KSM 15-20 years from now.
Yeah good callout… I started WoW at 28 years old and now I’m 48 - I find myself knowing much less about the game overall. I’ve had to narrow my focus of what I can pay attention to, in order to maintain a decent level of play.
I try to just learn the things that are most impactful to my play, and other things escape me, especially when it comes to knowing exactly what other players are doing (rotating kicks, etc.)
