It has been years since I have played on Wyrmrest and I am trying to get an idea of if there is any point in coming back for the community and RP. I have no idea how it is going on the server right now but I remember enjoying the atmosphere of the world actually feeling alive. So would there be any point or any hope?
With the current climate of things, a lot of people have taken a break or quit and admittedly it can be a little empty at times. But in large , it is all up to you. Not really what anyone else says. Some people will tell you run far far away. Others might link you to specific fantasy mmos as a jab to just go join this game instead instead of wasting your time here. But if you truly love WoW, then you should try it again if you feel like giving it another go.
The good memories and interactions you make are entirely up to you and if you feel like being a part of the community again. And i will say , despite Orgrimmar being a little quieter sometimes, I had one of the best RP hang outs last night with my friends. I felt good, there was a lot of chatter and people to meet. I still had a great time, and I still find caring about this hobby worth it.
So get back into it if you truly want, join some event discords to keep up on public events, check the forums for the events and dont read anything you don’t feel like reading that may hinder your enjoyment of something fun.
What ever you choose, I hope it’s one that you are happy with. And if you return to Azeroth, I welcome you regardless. We must continue to bring good energy and a positive outlook to the community , and keep it alive. All the while, continuing to support the efforts being made by the employees and boosting their voices and sharing their stories.
Hope you have a wonderful evening today!
RP is definitely on a decline because the expansion doesn’t offer a lot to facilitate RP. In addition, the ongoing law suit has been the final straw for a lot of people to finally quit completely.
Alliance has a smaller population and a number of people have been leaving for Moon Guard. Horde is still crammed in RP valley and there’s a lot of OOC chatter and griefers because everyone congregates in one corner and it allows for easier trolling unfortuantely.
Chromie Time is great for leveling alts but it sucks because it shoves you into a phase. So that natural organic RP you might have running into a group hanging out in low level zones is now less likely to happen unless you level without it.
Otherwise there’s still events that happen on the regular, Mead Hall is still active and now does cross server with Moon Guard. There is a moot this Saturday, Mythrill Mug meets on Sundays and Cask n Anvil every other week.
I appreciate both of those replies. I was thinking about playing this guy since I mostly play Horde anyways and those characters are on a different server but I know Wyrmrest has mostly been more Horde leaning. That said, I’m not terribly picky if I can feel immersed and really into the character.
Hey Ratheleas! As mentioned above, RP population has taken a dive this expansion, especially in light of the recent sexual harassment lawsuit against Blizzard. That said, it is not dead or gone.
If you want to RP Hordeside, there’s still several guilds AND Orgrimmar’s Valley of Honor functions as an active random RP hub. Either or both means of finding RP would be easily available for you.
If you want to RP Allianceside, random RP is a bit quieter but still exists now and again in the Mage District or Park in Stormwind. I’d say your best bet for fulfilling RP is going to be finding a guild. There are still active guilds on the server - I’d suggest checking the pinned post on the forums to see which ones are still around! WRA Alliance has taken a hit… but I still find great RP on there from time to time!
Good luck on what you decide to do! I hope you enjoy your time here on WRA!
Depending on how inclined you are to leveling a new toon, could always roll a new one and give Wyrmrest a shot.
Moon Guard does seem a lot more active for Alliance, but in my experience, you’ll also have a lot of people with varying levels of lore bending/breaking. I personally don’t mind some bending, but there’s a limit.
Horde and Alliance on Wyrmrest have taken hits as of late. There’s still some RP happening but it’s getting tough.
You’re more than welcome to bring em out to the moot this Saturday. It’s being hosted in Thelsamar at 6pm server time, don’t have to be a dwarf to attend! They let my big ol smelly Draenei hang out!
Here is this week’s full calendar

Can attest that, from my experience at least, I’ve observed the same. Tried leveling an alt on MG recently. Some of the RP severely stretched or even outright ignored the bounds of the lore. I’m not paying for their fun so I’m not having a crack at them or anything, but it wasn’t overly conducive to my own personal fun.
I played on Moon Guard before I came to Wyrmrest a long time ago and that sort of stuff was going on back then as well, part of why I left. I think I might need to spend some time thinking about options since I barely have any gold left on this server and I want to decide on something that really resonates with me and I am terribly indecisive because of all of the different options available.
Not gonna lie thow, they do have the most extra drama when things go nuclear over who is the RP king or queen of this or that part of the game world. It’s like being that person when your neighbours fight and you sit there and listen to it because you want to know what’s going on and the whole thing is just so stupid.
ive been on and off playing wra on an alt and have to say RP in stormwind any way is almost dried up, an what rp i can find tends to be quite boring, the emotion isnt there the feeling isnt there and theres not many rpers still around the ones that are dont hang out for very long periods of time.
Everyone else already went over the general state of the rp community, so I’ll just say my usual piece.
Please come to Duskwood I play a spooky ghost who roams the roads every night, and when I say every night I mean EVERY night. (Except every other Monday for my dnd nights but you know. Pretty much every night.) I’m usually there from 7 pm server to 1 am, and there’s a few other friendly faces that call Duskwood home too, please come visit us for a fun little spooky time.
I also do want to say, while many people say that MG is better for Alliance, I still advocate for giving WRA Alliance a try (and more of you should encourage people to do so as well for better health of the alliance side community!) But alliance wra has a lot of wonderful people! (bsides… . a lot people do both. I treat it as running into people at different parts of the day and as the same universe). Find your comfort zone, and …yes there is some truth to some obnoxious OOC in Horde rp hotspots in Orgrimmar, you can turn off Yell and that can sometimes help.
(I still blame allowing taven pvp for attracting that a lot…)
Yes! Please don’t abandon us! ;V
Yet also want to point out time zone differences between the two servers. Are you on the East Coast or West Coast or somewhere in between that leans closer to one of the other because that will affect your experiences.
Even though I joke about MG I did play on MG but my biggest problem with the server had nothing to do with the community but the time zone difference. I’m on the west coast and most server events happened while I was still at work so I was left to mostly find RP threw walk up. Which is fine but I prefer more event and roll base driven RP events and had better luck by moving to WRA and finding guilds that hosted events at times I can be online.
100% mate! I love that there’s even at least one crossfaction guild on this server. That’s a pretty boss thing. There’s an Argent Crusade guild I’ve seen at Scourge events which has an Alliance and Horde arm and RP together… I think that sort of thing alone is a very good reason to keep WRA alliance going! It’s still the best chance for a balanced and interactive RP community across factions.
I’m on the east coast.
Of Australia.
FML finding RP is hard.
RIP and you’re wacky down under time zones and backwards spinning toilet water
My best American friends are Alaskans because there’s only a 6 hour time difference (although technically it’s 18 because international date line fun times… 9pm for them is 3pm for me so we can at least hang out a little xD)
Timezones are hard XD
I am genuinely curious as to how horde on wra has taken a hit — since I know the “why.”
since I am part of the hit and so are most of my friends lol
