However little dk’s just don’t work for me either frankly, fantasy or not. Little “anything” should not be swinging swords and such, if I’m to be honest.
I need to make a goblin or something, I’m clearly biased.

Fantasy games and DnD have clear rulesets though.
Yes you can have the odd character here and there who are midgets with super strength but on average that does not happen.
Midgets play lutes and bards. Big and stout dudes do the barbarian stuff.
