Could have sworn a while ago that Blizzard made it known that, for example, exchanging gold on retail for a boost in classic was bannable now.
I’ve been seeing loads (like… a lot lot) of in-game advertising in remix of people selling remix boosts in exchange for gold in retail. Is that not the same scenario as classic-retail and hence not against the rules?
Didn’t want to start reporting people if it’s not against the rules since it’s technically the same WoW “client”, but I’m seeing so much ad spam for it in groupfinder that it’s a bit silly.
Id wager its still a unsuported transaction and would raise red flags if u were to say transfer large ammoumt of gold from a lvl 1 toon to a max lvl toon.
If your transfering between ur own toons thats a different matter.
So there are no policies against paying gold for boosting. Now as for the transferring gold between servers, that is now against the rules. I suspect the rule change was likely due to the fact that a significant portion of the ‘accounts’ which were assisting with these transfers were deeply involved in the RMT trade, where essentially most of the people trading gold were laundering money for the gold selling market.
Having the transactions be considered “unsupported” created to much of a grey area on a transaction some users thought they were “safe” making at least from the standpoint of their account standing, where they thought they worst that could happen would be for them to simply lose the gold. That was not the case, and if you trade for bad gold, you can expect to be actioned.
Report the heck out of that. Advertising for gold boosts are ONLY allowed in Trade Services. People have been sanctioned for advertising in other channels quite often. It’s also against the rules if the player advertising isn’t of the level to be able to participate in the run themselves. So levels 1 or 10, as they’re the most prolific ones, are breaking the rules right off the bat.
Sorry if this is tangential, but I have a question. Let’s say a player (let’s call him Buybuy) illicitly buys gold from a 3rd party source. Why people do this when you can buy it directly from Blizzard, I can’t possible fathom. Anyway, let’s say Buybuy now buys a boost with that illicit gold from another player (let’s call him Sellsell). And let’s say Buybuy get’s caught and get suspended or banned. Does Sellsell also get suspended/banned for accepting the illicit gold (even if they were unaware)?
Generally users who buy illicit gold do so on throw away accounts with low level characters. That’s a HUGE red flag. As a seller you should always deal directly with the character you will be boosting, never one of their low level bank alts. If they insist, ask them to first transfer the gold to the character in question, I bet most will not be willing to do that.
Are they posting a bear butt for 150k gold and is someone buying it? That looks suspicious.
If you are selling stuff at market value then in general you would be safe. You can’t control who buys from you and if you’re transactions aren’t fishy then you’re fine.
