I think I need to reinstall windows 11

Can someone help me? When I get to the log in screen for Windows for my password, it gives me multiple errors, “dsatray.exe application error” “same thing for” AsusArmory.exe application error" I can hit okay and close them but when I log into Windows and I try to open WoW nothing happens, I tried uninstalling the intel driver updater and the Asus Armory, it won’t let me.

Any program will not open beside my google chrome browser?

Anyone else having this issue since the last windows update? Please help. Does this sound like some sort of virus?

Try running WoW as administrator. Neither of the things you mentioned should have anything to do with whether or not you can open it.

Thank you for the reply. I tried this. No program seems to work but Google chrome. This is one of the most bizarre problems I’ve ever had with windows.

Restart in safe mode (F8 while booting, then choose “Safe Mode” or “Safe Mode with Networking”), then try uninstalling those applications.

You could also check the startup programs while in there and disable those two things.

I’ll give this a shot and let you know. Thank you.

This only started after the latest update I got for W11

Doesn’t surprise me - I’ve spent so many hours cleaning up client computers after a botched Windows Update.

For what it’s worth, a quick look at the inet found two things:

  1. DsaTray.exe is usually located in the ‘C:\Program Files\Intel Driver Update Utility’ folder. The article indicated that no malware has been associated with this program.

  2. The following article may provide some insight about your ASUSArmory problem.

I’ve had trouble with Windows updates disabling drivers and removing them from view. It’s my perception that MS expects 3rd party software devs to play catchup after they push out a new version.

Run it in safe mode if you get same errors it’s Windows failure , or motherboard. If not must be some corrupted drivers

Okay, I think we are possibly getting somewhere. I was able to uninstall the intel thing and the Asus armory.

That’s a good thing I guess, so I can reinstall to possibly fix it.

I didn’t get the errors until I logged in this time. This will be the 3rd time I’ve had to reinstall W11. No programs are opening still but chrome. Very strange :frowning:

Thank you, I’ll check this out.

Missing out better experience overall and taking minor but simple fixes overrated

If no Windows apps (settings, Edge, Windows Update, or even the start menu) open, then make sure the Windows Update service is running. You can check this by hitting ctrl-r and typing in ‘services.msc’.

Additionally, you can try reverting your system using system restore to a point before the last update. You may also have some luck removing the last Windows update patch - you can do that from the Programs and Features > View Installed Updates and sort by install On date.

When you upgrade to a new OS it’s best to do a clean install and then once you do that you can then start getting your stuff added back on your PC

Don’t be surprised when Blizzard makes Dragonflight optimized for windows 11

Are you installing W11 as an upgrade or a clean install? At this point if you are not doing a clean install, that is, wiping the C:\ before installing W11. It is possible there is something that was happy with W10 but is absolutely anathema to W11.

I’ve done a clean install a few times now off a brand new Samsung USB.

Maybe the install file on the USB is corrupt? Maybe I can borrow a computer to try and reformat the USB and reinstall the installation program. This is such a pain ;_; thankfully I keep nothing personal on here.

you can play wow on windows 7 even

It maybe windows 11 i had to go back to windows 10 to get mine to work right

It won’t let me rollback the update.

I 100% believe user error. But I turned on my PC for the first time today in a couple days, downloaded the update, it was the cumulative update and a security update. it restarted and this started happening.
