Queued into an EoTS, 5 people went BE at the start and just stood there no one went FR at first, at some point we took mid and our FC chased the enemy to their side, FC got killed, and they took the flag in for a short distance cap, etc. lol Most of what I see in BGs are people fighting on roads, completely ignoring objectives, etc. Which entirely makes sense that the team with the highest overall ilvl generally wins, because it really comes down to who can thoughtlessly mongo the other team while the handful of people actually on task do the objectives.
If you care enough about BG win/loss to come here you’re probably in the upper percentage of people who attempt to pay attention to what you need to do to win, but I would estimate that isn’t the case for a large cross section of the people you’re queuing with (judging by what I’ve seen honor farming the past day and a half). Yes, I’m sure queuing at 25k HP does in fact suck, but I think you might see a bit of a W/L increase if you know the BG well enough to try and coach people on what to do in chat–they will occasionally listen.
I run a lot of rated BGs where I am on discord with 9 people that are making callouts you need to respond to. It can get intense at times, and other times you might find yourself sitting in stealth at a base twiddling your thumbs the whole game.
Random BGs are like a free-for-all for me. I just want to screw around and do whatever I want to. I would rather have fun fighting than anything else in a random BG. Pretty sure most feel the same way. A lot of people are playing alts in there and just want to slam some new buttons.
If you want organized PvP, there is thing for that. Random BG is chaos, and chaos can be a lot of fun.
If you insist on trying to have organized random BGs then queue with a group of players that want to complete objectives.
Every 3rd post on this forum is someone complaining about the W/L state of random BGs currently. I’ve queued into one or two RBG’s in my day, from my perspective of someone who has seen the difference, I’m just pointing out how to help some of the people who are currently unhappy with their games at the moment. If you aren’t trying to win when you queue a random BG that’s fine with me, but you weren’t exactly the target audience here. lol
That’s cool. I’m just telling you most people that are queueing into random BGs are there to play alts or kick back and slay on mains.
You can toss out strategy, but it probably won’t help much because most aren’t looking at the chat window.
Your best bet with the random crowed is manipulation. If I want people to go somewhere tell them there’s a big fight there (LOTS INC LM) or that something is taking extra damage (KILL EFC 9 STACKS 90% EXTRA DAMAGE).
Yes, an uncoordinated team is unlikely to beat a team with a few intelligent shot callers. That said, most people aren’t playing unrated to put in that effort. The belief that “alliance sucks” stems from the fact that it does seem more of the people who want to win and are willing to take on shot calling play horde.
There’s truth in both opinions, and a good portion of the players on here are aware of that fact. However, just like in unrated BGs, a lot of the people legitimately whining about such things have no intent or care to improve, and would rather blame it on the symptom instead of the cause.
Play a lot of epic bgs. Alliance is uncoordinated AND and least 20 ilvls, on average, lower than the horde. Just recently had a loss of 10 in a row… I will say that again. 10 epic bgs in a row. Won one, lost next two, then won another.
Most of the time there is someone who calls out shots, at the start. Then I watch on the map how people just wander off to do…I don’t know… die. It’s so freaking stupid and frustrating.
Watch the horde and vast majority stick together in a group. Then, alliance start leaving in droves as soon as first contact is over, leaving only half the people behind which just accelerates the slaughter.
I think that most of the players who are interested in pvp and start as alliance, eventually go horde because of this. That is why alliance always has a big bonus to honor and quests… Alliance acts as clueless noobs that are sheep waiting for slaughter
If it wasn’t for the fact that horde’s story is so messed up and it’s leaders are a bunch of pyschos I would have stayed horde but the alliance, imo, has much nicer players and in game npcs that I will stay.
Ironically I had to merc queue to tonight to start winning. lol But I feel you man, even on a 221 Holy Paladin (honor farming for upgrades, I don’t generally queue unrated on this toon) it’s hard to carry matches against premade teams–even more so when people are literally doing anything except trying to win the game.
Not if the enemy approach is to wipe your whole team, 5cap you, and camp your graveyard. Obviously this is a bit of an extreme example, but let’s not pretend like gear isn’t gonna be a major deciding factor a lot of the time.
This mindset is your problem. If you think the horde side is oh so great, you should play horde and see for yourself, there’s barely any difference. I have good and bad games on both sides.
Individuals make the difference. There are good players, bad players, players that communicate, players that don’t, and players that only care about kbs/damage, on both sides. You’re able to deal with this moreso in a rated environment as you can pick and choose your teammates.
(Also it’s a lie you’re actively tracking ilvls and averaging enemy teams ilvl)
Point being, people aren’t doing themselves any favors by not trying to communicate or run the objectives properly. That 40k Rpal is going to be mid-field chopping down health bars regardless. But what he might not be doing is getting to your FC if everyone uses utility to stop him instead of running up to feed him HK’s.
Edit: Which isn’t to say guarantees a win, but changing the way you play the game is something in everyone’s control.
The corruption abusing DH talking about gear differences? Didn’t you spend like 12 hours a day in BFA dueling in Durotar with an extreme gear difference to feel good about yourself? Big yikes dude. Pretty sure you had like 50% versatility, and took negative damage but hey, preach about it now that you’ve decided to give rated pvp a try instead of afking in durotar.
Not sure what you’re talking about but it sounds like you’re completely ignoring everything I just said so you can whine about losing a duel or something half a year ago. Grow up, man.
This is the reality that gets papered over with whatever the fotm scapegoat is at the moment. The same people playing around in the road, ignoring enemy FCs, etc., race back here to complain about their W/L rate.
Spoiler Alert: you can still rack up HKs while keeping a loose eye on the objectives of the map. You’re not “turning your brain off” - you are actively working against your team.
PS Inb4 this thread turns into the same six people with the same talking points.
For some maps killing people and controlling the main ground is the win condition. For example, in ToK it is possible but difficult to win if the other team is dominating you on kills. However, in WSG (for example) you can easily win if the enemy team is destroying you on kills but ignoring the FCs.
BUT, and I think this is where Tactics misses the point, is that this is the geared team’s choice in a geared versus undergeared match. If the geared team plays the objectives instead of just going for kills then they are most likely going to win. The undergeared team can’t just decide to “play better” to win.
This is assuming roughly similar skill and knowledge between the teams.
