That is the thrill of rolling on a RPPvP or PvP server. Its just a game, bro. You win some battles, you lose some. My guess is that people who roll on PvE servers are not very good at PvP.
Another thing is, you don’t need to be paranoid all the time when out questing. You have to have the mind set of carrying your big balls around like the southpark character rolling his in a wheelbarrow
Being good at PvP only matters when you’re fighting someone more or less near your own level.
A High Warlord playing their level 23 whatever in STV is still just raw, bloody meat for the level 45 Hunter who pounces upon them.
Leveling new toons on PvP servers is always an exercise in masochism…
Thats what guilds are for. PvP causes your allies to band together. Call for help. PvP builds a strong community.
For me. RPPvP is the ultimate way to play a fantasy mmorpg. Thats just my opinion.
lvlving through contested zones on a RPPvE or PvE server is single player type of game. There is no thrill of encountering enemy player. And no need to be in a guild to call for help if you are getting ganked by higher lvl toons.
Everyone has their preferences and I respect that. Just have fun whatever server type you roll on.
You seem to forget, anyone wanting to live the thug life on a (RP)PvE server can simply Flag themselves for PvP.
Works every time it’s tried.
Even here on kissy-face Elune/Gilneas, turning on your Flag results in you being attacked regularly. Feels exactly like a PvP server to me, whenever i tried it! (which since BFA hit, has been not at all. First expansion i just cannot hit max level in.)
You’ll still need help for difficult group quests.
You say thrill, I say annoyance - there’s very little, if anything, of value gained by killing a player. They’re just gonna rez and be right back at it anyways, so the only way to stop them is to have them corpse-camped until they log off.
Guilds are still extremely useful. They’re the best “LFG” to have.
Thats true, but most players will not be flagged. So if one day you’re out and about feeling like doing some wpvp and flag yourself, you wont find wpvp as easily as a rppvp server.
Which server is RP server for wow classic?
I reserved my nick on a server blindly
I’m in no hurry to reach lvl 60. So a little skirmish won’t bother me. Wpvp just adds another element to the game.
Bloodsail Buccaneers, for normal RP
Thug-life RP has some weird name that starts with a G.
Goebbels maybe?
on rp-pvp servers, if its red its dead. no safe havens. hunting the opposite faction is rp in itself.
Name | Type | Time Zone |
---|---|---|
Bloodsail Buccaneers | RP | Eastern |
Grobbulus | RP-PvP | Pacific |
This idea of yours goes against the RP element of RP-PvP. If you don’t wanna be ganked in your main city, don’t flag yourself, or play on an RP-PvE server; there are different servers for a reason.
Edit: I see you addressed this. Nevermind. My point about RP-PvP still stands, however; PvPing in a war is completely a role-playing move no matter where it is.
It may not fit certain peoples’ ideas of RP, but again…that’s the entire purpose behind RP-PvP servers.
I get why you’re saying this, but…I feel like this is only something to worry about if you’re in a safe zone/building and are there purely to RP. Out in the world with questing and such, it’s not impossible to watch out for, but is unreasonable to expect out of people.
I 100% agree that some people want the full-time PVP experience and that it enhances their overall RP. I’ve spent a good amount of time on RP-PVP servers in the past and can say for certain that at the time the PVP part added a lot to the RP aspect for me and I can see why people like it. These days it’s just not for me. I’m “too old for that #$%^” as Danny Glover has been quoted.
Absolutely! None of the players I know stick to everything all the time; particularly when out doing standard PVE stuff. I’m so used to things like not running through people or NPCs in cities that I automatically do it out in the world, but it’s not something I consciously do when not actively RPing.
On the general topic of RP-PVP vs. RP-PVE servers, could we please stick to the topic of how to help new RPers or non-RPers navigate the differences of playing on an RP server? We all have our preferences, neither of which are wrong, but making non-constructive comments about players’ PVP preferences doesn’t do anything to help encourage people rolling on RP servers.
Thank you,
Vendorioc/Dromtar
Yes. It’s certainly the most complete experience one can have.
Fair enough.
You said “general topic” so I feel like it’s not directed at me, but I feel telling people that you’ll be killed on an RP-PvP server the sameor similar to on a PvP server is not non-constructive.
If you’re referring to someone else, then nevermind.
I made the assumption, rightly or wrongly, that people who roll on a PVP server know what they’re in for. Different people above have expressed different opinions about the validity of play on a PVP vs. PVE server and the potential quality/skill of players at PVP who choose to not play on a PVP server. That’s fuel for an opinion fire that can turn ugly quickly and I’d like to avoid that.
Everyone has their own preferences on what makes the game enjoyable and we’re all in this together to make RP a positive experience for people who roll on an RP server, PVP and PVE alike. Having seen some really nasty threads about who “should or shouldn’t” roll on RP servers I’d very much like to keep this thread positive, constructive, and encouraging in tone.
Thank you for your input on clipping etc out in the world vs. in cities/safe zones. I’ve edited the original post to clarify. It’s always good to have multiple sets of eyes to cover things like that.
I’ve thought a lot about playing on an RP server, and your post has done it for me… I’m going to try BB, Alli side… thanks so much for your post…
