I rolled on an RP server, now what?

is this a negative thing? in regards to like, doing dungeons, raids, pvp and all that

It can be, smaller populations mean the pool of people to draw from is smaller. It it can also be a good thing as you get to know people faster and have the chance to build stronger relationships.

That’s certainly what people who roll on RP-PVP servers sign up for, there’s no disputing that. From personal experience it’s nice to have some down-time to RP without needing to constantly be on alert like out in the world. The suggestion was only that, a suggestion that it can be considered courteous to avoid roflstomping people who may be wanting down-time RP and not particularly able to defend themselves. I’ve never encountered a city-assault situation where there weren’t enough people ready to defend to make the assault not worth the effort of ignoring people who don’t want to participate. Again, if anyone attacks back they’re fair game.

I think there is a not of generalizing, and off advice in this thread.

A, RP-PVE servers …Lets see, 2004, Argent Dawn, queues to enter for days. Moonglow, I think that was the name, packed to the gills, and another,. that I know of.

Moonguard and Argent Dawn stayed packed, again the 2 I played on. I think people are confusing Post LK expansion RP servers, crossrealm did a number, population with their view.

Per RPing…Can;t do it. Tried, feel silly, but I have always tried to play on RP servers in most games DUE to what the other players bring. Sure, at 1st it seems retarded, goofy, and any number of idiotic ideas pop in your head relating to no sex, grandma’s basement, etc. But its not true. I have met many of my RP friends from AD and Moon, in person. Normal people who enjoy “getting into it”.

I wish I could find the words. I do. RPers are fun people. They will make you feel awkward, TRUST ME, but they are the best WOW has to offer per GOOD people.

So, if you cant do the ME GUN SMASH JOO! have your /cheer. /wave, /nod, /laugh, etc emotes hot keyed. It is the EASIEST way to respond and not feel goofy

I think RPers do not realize just how many non RPers who play JUST for the atmosphere they offer to others.

Respect the RPers…just don’t start letting your mood or day, influence how you type in general or trade. Do not let a few seconds of fun get you to act like an idiot there. RPers will be polite and nice, but you may find many avoid you for adventuring if you show a predilection for just talking about things NOT game-related, out of something to do

PVP-RP is not an area I am familiar with. However, per another post, there IS plentty of reason to sneak into Org and start slaying people…its’ what the Alliance does. If you don’t like it, it’s fine, but to apply your preferences to playing on a PVP format, is a bit silly when it’s Us V Them

I hope my fellow …what would be a good word…Tourists are respectful, courteous and friendly. While we also pay to play, it is the RPers server. Every WOW servers RP communities have ended up inclusive due to the nature of non-RPers, what they do to chat, and how they behave. To me it’s like a developer killing off a wild lands area to make houses, in how non RPers drive RPers off or into limited, outwardly vocal, RP situations.

I know, Rambling…Completegibberish was my Nick for years. I look forward to seeing all of the HORDE Rpers and I hope others like me who DO try an RP server, respect you and your immersion as much as I do

This! A simple emote or small hotkeyed macro is usually enough and is generally appreciated. Non-RPers have a lot to offer the server too in their own ways. As long as you’re not a snotrocket and don’t disrupt the environment, be welcome and enjoy what RP servers have to offer. We’re guaranteed to have cookies.

Don’t those who insist on carrying on their RP while blue tagged feel a little silly when battle rages around them? I am not talking about RPing relative to the battle, I am talking about standing there, acting as though no battle was happening. In a city if people are RPing in their non-combat clothing, I have to assume that they are blue tagged, and thus have ample time to either run away from the battle, go put combat gear on and either join the defense or RP at a distance.

I rather look at RPers who cannot react to non-scripted events as a bit…well, lame. Non-planned occurrences should be looked at as good things which breathe life into the static game world. Rather than bothersome things that disturb scripted play acting.

There is no “attack back” as when blue flagged you are unattackable in the first place.

It’s been long enough since I played on a PVP server that I forgot about the ability to de-flag when in cities, so all of this may be a non-issue. Thank you for the reminder, I’ve edited the OP.

Sorry about the late reply, it’s been a busy few days. Thanks for that, I’m preparing for some uni exams right now but i’ll likely give it a shot in a few weeks and I’ll add you next time I jump on.

Thanks again

I really think the biggest thing I can say if you plan on rolling on an RP server and not roleplaying is just be respectful.

With RP addons we can see who wants to and who doesnt want to roleplay (mostly by the lack of said addons) so you may not be approached for roleplay as often as you might think, but I can’t stress enough how important it is that you be respectful of people who are roleplaying.

Dont crash their scene/event because you think its funny. With no cross realm grouping, you will find yourself blacklisted rather quickly from any PvE groups if word spreada you’re a troll. If you are approached just let them know you arent a roleplayer polietly and they will understand.

You respect us, and we will respect you. You are on our server, remember that.

36 hours to go. I look forward to seeing you all on Bloodsail!

well for starters, you don’t foreplay rp with that rhetoric

I’m not quite sure what you mean, could you please clarify?

like, seemed strong and too aggressive.

My original post? What in particular sounds aggressive? My intent was/is to be encouraging so if I need to make some edits I’d appreciate the feedback.

usually ppl buy a drink first omgard

don’t read too far into this friend.

I think a regular RP server like Bloodsail is better because hey, anyone and everyone can turn on their PvP flag if they want to live the thug life (so to speak).

Whereas on an RP-PvP server, you never get a freaking break. You’re always stuck in fight-or-flight mode. It gets old, it gets stressful, it gets on your nerves after while…

Vendorioc (OP) here.

That’s exactly the reason I prefer to play on RP and not RP-PVP realms. WPVP, and especially, RP-PVP can be a ton of fun, especially when it’s an organized event, but I have no desire to live my online life constantly afraid of roving Death Squads.

Same. That is why I can’t do RPPvE or PvE servers. My choice of servers to join from first to last. RPPvP, PvP, RPPvE and PvE.
