I wasn’t all that interested in fresh…until I saw the GDKP ban. There’s still certain design decisions I don’t agree with, but at least with this I’ll give it a shot.
So, here’s something I don’t often say: You did good, Blizzard.
I resubbed for that as well.
Just hope they hold their word and fish out the underground GDKP discords too.

very happy with all the changes coming in nu-classic. Hopefully it will keep those weird people away that expect it to be an emulated 2004 experience.

Before GDKP’s people commonly held these things called “PUG’s”. It stood for “Pick-Up Groups”. A group of randoms on their alts would get together to clear a raid on farm to gear out alts. With GDKP’s out of the way, the PUG will be allowed to shine once again.

It’s also entertaining to watch the GDKP advocates on these forums claim that they don’t spend a dime in real world money on GDKP’s or how they don’t make a single cent off the gold they earn in them. Like yeah okay suuuuure buddy.

Obviously not every single person in GDKPs buys gold, but the fact is even those who don’t do it know that the big chunk of gold they get at the end comes from swipers. Then that provides gold that they do use in later GDKPs. And so on and so forth and pretty soon everyone is using gold that originated from gold buying.
Some at least do acknowledge it. But the ones who try to deny it are pretty sad. And those who try to equate it to the auction house are worth no more than a slight chuckle.

i can’t put myself into the mindset of someone who hates GDKP so much that banning it makes them want to play again 
like, if you hated GDKPs before, you could have just joined a non-GDKP raiding guild.

Inflatable gold has no bearing on if GDKP is good or bad. It’s all relative… Less inflated gold and item sells for 10g, with more inflated gold it sells for 100g. The relative value remains the same

They could have kept GDKP intact and added the token instead…

The ban isn’t a cure-all, but just because it doesn’t completely eliminate gold buying doesn’t mean lessening it isn’t worthwhile.
And Blizz’s refusal to hire GMs to police the game is another issue. I fully acknowledge this might just be their lazy way of trying to deal with the problem.

Really the only ones who don’t spend a dime on GDKP’s are either people who organize them themselves or are buddies with the person who does. Otherwise you HAVE to swipe to become an earner because GDKP hosts won’t let you become an earner unless you’ve proven you’re “committed” by being a serious spender first. I know this because I tried becoming an earner in GDKP’s during Wrath Classic and this was the barrier to entry for literally all of them.
GDKP’s are legit just money-laundering schemes these days. That’s not to say I don’t think GDKP’s have a place. I remember back in OG vanilla during the final few weeks before TBC came out people started doing GDKP’s to get their alts expansion ready or to get the gold ready for their flying mount and skill. But what we have today is a borderline criminal organization.
