Let there be games!

The only decent men in this thread are a couple of female nelves. What is the world coming to?

You wouldn’t believe if I told you. Or maybe you would.

But let’s just say… phrases like “will this (human) leg fit in the mini fridge?” don’t turn heads…

Why do you say only men? Women can do some horrendous things, too.

Yall are acting like the world would turn into the hunger games at the drop of a hat. If that’s the case then what’s the point of society? If you’re all about to murder hobo irl if things were to be slightly different? I don’t like to think of men this way.

I mostly ment man, as in human kind. That was a typo xD.

The simple fact that we are arguing over whether it matters if a man in a video game shows emotion or not says a lot about the things we have the time to battle for these days.

On all sides of the equation.

We have got it quite good guys. Enjoy that your biggest fight in this moment is whether or not Anduin cries.

Watched too much TWD

People do whatever they have to in order to survive, it’s instinctual.

That said this is a game and a story so we probably shouldn’t strive towards that end.

You are wrong, sorry.

No offense ment, but every single one of us can. You included.

Let me give you a hypothetical.

You have 2 year old child but no food. Those people do have food but are unwilling to share.

Would you sit idle while your baby starves? Or would you TAKE what you need to survive?

Id bet on taking it, unless you’re willing to watch your own child starve.

The point of society is to prevent:

And so far it’s working out. Mostly. Doing pretty good and better than the alternatives on offer imo.

You’re restricting the conditions too much. The option is always there and chance that the group will give you food but either require something in return or require nothing. Cause humans can be cooperative as well as competitive.

Also kinda depends on where you are in the world at any given time period.

No im not.

Its either take food you dont have from others or watch your child starve.

Those are choices many people in human history have had to choose between.

Most men are “emotional” men and I doubt most would be able to go cold blood killer at the drop of a hat. There’s psychopaths and other people without a conscience, but I doubt that’s most men. Protect their family from harm? Absolutely. I read somewhere that women on the frontlines of wars distract the men and the men will do stupid things to make sure nothing happens to the women, even if they’re not particularly close to the women. That I can understand a bit. But I don’t like to think most men are inherently violent. That screams incel machismo culture to me.

I mean…there are objectively different levels of society and I’m no cultural relativist so I don’t do gymnastics to make them all seem just as good.

It’s a balancing act - to a point the story has to be realistic, but in my opinion it just needs to be realistic in such a way that it is relatable.

Anduin’s conflict is very relatable to men (and women) everywhere.

The dog-eat-dog nature of the world…not as much. And yet still much more than many of us like it to be.

So yeah society is fragile and it can all go south pretty fast when things go wrong (look at COVID) but I’m not sure that is the direction the story wants to go.

But it was never the majority. Most people who grouped up survived. All the people who did not usually ended up dead. Theft is not always the answer nor the choice.

Love Anduin. Especially now.

Thats an idealistic view that doesn’t hold up at all.

I WISH you were right. I truly do.

Actually, it’s not. There’s a reason the story of the Odysessy is more popular than a story about a man crying for the entire book. Which does not exist.
