I played hardcore during shadowlands, like 6+ hours a day Monday thru Sunday at least. I swapped to more of a casual schedule during the last season but still played at least 10 hours a week. And then I played the very beginning of dragon flight until I had to go dark again because of my work schedule.
But now I’m back on a hardcore schedule… and man… I totally feel like the population is low right now. I used to grind M+ all night without any problems. Now… it almost seems impossible to start a pug and fill it at night. People simply don’t apply. During the day is fine I can grind back to back dungeons with ease… but at night… crickets.
I feel like that’s pretty telling…
Is there anyway we can check the server populations? I’m just curious.
Blizzard needs to modernize the game to bring more gamers in. I’m sure many of those reworks I wouldn’t like, but it’s better to have a thriving game then a dying one. As long as they keep the core of the game there, and maybe just simplify things for a better qualifty of life experience, and maybe condense down some spells (having 3 seperate spells that do the same thing, etc).
I prefer to play WoW all day and night right now since I’m on break from my job. But now it’s more like WoW during the day and Valorant at night (which constantly has people playing at night… signs of a thriving game.)
wait until tomorrow probably see more people along with the new patch. outside of that HC was the same way when D4 dropped it was fricken dead for a few days then everyone just decided to come back it seems. Once HC official launches it’ll just be a slow decline. trend is always the same imo. New patch/expac drops big hype and lots of people. Over time it just slowly declined people take a break or move onto something else like HC and then come back when new content gets launched.
it’s how retail has always been. Classic aint got much going for it new i think not like vanilla+. New SoM eventually and just official HC servers but thats about it.
Blizzard needs to stop making M+ such a massive gear gravy train. The reason people don’t do it is because they already got everything they want.
And then tomorrow, they’re gonna upgrade it all to 447, for free.
Ever wonder where the point was where you make something SO easy and SO over-rewarding that it devours itself? That’s where M+ is, right now. When +16 keys give 447 gear… that’s unsustainable.
Only the pieces they got from their +16 to +19 vaults. Anything from the dungeons themselves, and anything from +15s and below, is still capped out at 441, no exceptions.
We get a non-negligible number of upgrades on the raiding end too, including Sark cloaks (lol), class trinkets, and gear from everything up to Mythic Zskarn (not inclusive).
Us raiders are gonna be seeing much, MUCH bigger increases by virtue of Mythic Anvils getting buffed than most M+ers are gonna be seeing by virtue of their already-existing gear being buffed to +20 vault levels.
The real winners here are the Warlocks since their Heroic class trinkets just got absolutely juiced.
Well, bear in mind that you need to do three +16s to get that vault piece to 447. One for the piece itself, and two for the two Crests you need to upgrade it.
At that point I’d easily argue that Mythic Assault is marginally the harder part (though, if we’re comparing a +16 to one of the easiest bosses in recent memory it’s really not much of a competition in either direction).
It is common that after midnight there is hardly any active on most server because they limit their time to such, there’s possibility you can find some of them that have different times but not all do so.
Filling Shadowlands dungeons was easy because they weren’t so sensitive to everyone having all their CCs on bar. Last expansion most of that stuff was baseline, and we didn’t need it in PVE at all. This expansion having your utilities is the difference between having zero heals to do and a 50 death slog, and they removed them all from baseline so barely anyone has them. They just set up this misery world for everyone. The content isn’t balanced to be enjoyed. People were farming +2s in Shadowlands in full mythic raid sets because they were fast and you could trade valor for craft material bags. It’s nothing to do with who has what gear. If the content is fun, people play it.
People will tell you it’s always been like this, but that’s just copium. I’ve noticed the same thing myself. There was a time in this game where the population was so large that you could pug pretty much anything at any time. I remember doing impromptu 25 man Naxx pugs at 3 in the morning and having no problem filling them up, and that was on a medium pop realm before cross realm existed. Now, it’s a struggle to get a decent dungeon group together at any level outside of certain hours. This game is just dead now, lol.
Mythic Aberrus raid already has ilvl 447 gear. M+ isn’t the only way to gear up, it’s just not time-gated and that’s why loads of people prefer it over raids.
I’m going with no. The issue isnt that it gives good gear, its the upgrade path that allows you to do it so quickly. They should increase drop rates at the end of dungeons and lower the amount of crests you get.
