Pretty please reconsider soar being objectively inferior to dragon riding. Make it behave identical to dragon riding while on the dragon isles. All the systems inb place su ch as vigor. LEt me fly with my own wings please! I beg you! no cooldown and function just like dragon riding.
Not going to happen at this point. Your best hope is maybe next xpac after DF.
It’s a major feature of the expansion. They’re not going to let you completely ignore it just because you picked the new class. Sorry.
Yeah its a bit strange.
But you know this is Blizz, too much going on to coordinate left and right hands.
How am I ignoring it? Soar is the new feature. It’s the same thing. How is it “completely ignoring it” to let me do it racially? That’s a nonsensical statement. As is soar is virtually worthless ability.
Soar IS dragon riding. Only gimped. Asking it to behave and be upgradable along side dragon riding when it is mechanically the same seems to be like an incredibly basic ask.
Few things are sillier than a dragon riding a dragon.
Okay. Let’s say Blizz lets Soar be identical to dragonriding. Would you ever bother picking a drake? Customizing it? Working for the cosmetic rewards? How many other people do you think wouldn’t bother with any of that, if they could just Soar around everywhere?
Then don’t play an Evoker… Problem solved.
You act as if completionism isn’t an addiction a scary chunk of the playerbase have.
People will collect these things regardless if they see them or not. Druid players collect mounts despite only using Travel Form.
They’ll use them too, because that’s what the devs want you to do.
I imagine we’d have to as part of the story.
Should this not be optional content. Many people play purely for function and wouldn’t do those things anyways.
Does it matter? Players should be able to choose their way to play. Not have a specific nonsensical way be forced on them. If I am being corralled into playing the game a very specific way it makes me not want to play at all. It’s going to have the opposite of the intended impact if this is indeed their motivation. Forcing me to partake in optional cosmetic pursuits rather than just be a dragon that flies? As a collector I probably would’ve anyways. But it puts a bad taste in my mouth when I am compelled to play only a super specific way.
Explain how that solves my problem.
It just shows that blizzard has learned absolutely nothing over the past few expansions.
They still fully disregard player agency and choice for their vision of how the game should be played. I can’t think of any other MMO that comes this close to compelling players to play in a hyper specific way and punish them if they attempt to deviate. Even giving them a taste of a fun alternative but it’s objectively inferior so they still feel compelled to use the only real option there ever was.
I love WoW in many ways. I want to continue to enjoy it… but maybe I should just refund, unsub and go back to ffxiv. If this is how I am going to be treated by the devs who claim they care. WoW has many things ffxiv doesn’t. But how can I enjoy wow when I am forced to play how they want me to play despite my own desires?
…
something to mull over. The expansion is around the corner and it may already be ruined by the revelation that nothing has, and nothing will change at blizzard.
Yes. Dragonriding is the main feature of Dragonflight. lol ![]()
YES, and here is why: I don’t plan on maining an evoker, but I do plan on playing one.
I’m gonna be dragon riding on my warrior and monk though, for sure.
I agree that it is silly that the Dracthyr NPC’s can clearly fly around no problem, and during certain parts of the questline we apparently could too, but for in-game mechanics we have a cooldown on it.
It’s just weird. Evokers are a “hero class” but don’t feel the same as DK and DH when they came out. I’m enjoying mine, but the class itself seems half baked imo. Too many limitations and restrictions that to me, seem arbitrary.
For me, this is just one of many small things they could have done for an easy win, but for whatever reason, chose not to.
You’re gonna be dragon riding on your Evoker too. ![]()
Oh for sure, and I won’t be complaining about it, but because my evoker’s wings aren’t all flappy flappy when he is on a mount, that is what his visage form is for. ![]()
This will never change… Why? They don’t have time to play test certain features implemented in different ways and don’t really care to. I agree with you OP but if your serious about being angry, this post changes nothing. Blizzard has had time to change soaring/flying in beta as the feedback has been there, they just chose to ignore it.
Save yourself the disappointment and play another class… If your set on playing a Dracthyr then you have no choice than be unhappy with the lack of polish they have.
There is nothing mechanical preventing them from letting soar work like dragon riding. Nothing needs to be play tested
It is better to ride a dragon, than be ridden by a dragon.
I guess that would look a lot less dumb, to be in your visage while mounted, instead of Draccy form. I kinda zip around town with Hover, so I’m not in visage form much. I never really mounted up with it, so I didn’t even think you could.
I’ve been arguing about this “Dracthyr being able to fly” issue for a few days now and don’t get me wrong, I’m on all y’all’s side. They should be able to fly, both like a 310% mount and with Soar, but Blizz, I feel, is just not gonna budge.
I’m thankful to have a fun class with a fun feature, that’s where I stand on this. I’m having fun. It sucks that you guys feel like there needs to be much more for you to enjoy the race/class. I’m sorry Blizzard can kinda suck sometimes. Maybe at some point they’ll change their minds. I dunno.
I got an original idea , everyone tell your friends who play to open new threads on the forum about why can’t Dracthyr fly without a mount …
Ignore the other 8.8 billion threads on the topic, the magic number is 10 billion threads needed then blizzard will make it happen!
GET TO OPENING NEW THREADS NOW!
Hurry.
Same here, my evoker looks good in his Dracthyr form, so I mostly don’t mind, and I soar where I need to get to if I can. I have no intention of playing them beyond maybe, LFR for transmog, so I’m not too bothered.
Part of me thinks the decisions around them were made to kind of keep people from playing them so we aren’t ALL dragonfolk running around. “Class balance” or something.
