I hosted 4 AQ40 Pugs and Have 2 Guild runs.
Disappointed with the SOD team. AQ40 is broken.
Run 1: 3/9 Heroic.
Run 2: 5/9 Heroic.
Run 3: 6/9 Heroic.
Run 4: 7/9 Heroic.
Run 5: 8/9 Heroic.
Run 6: 6/9 Heroic.
Several of the bosses are too strong. AQ40 is not pug friendly. It is extremely broken with bosses not working properly or being overturned. This phase release has been so bad that it might be time to call it. I would say that most guilds have lost 30-40% of their raid team this lockout. Blizzard sucks. SOD was looking good at BWL. It was enjoyable and not hard. Now they release this crap. What a failure.
Were your groups popping elixir of the honey badger and applying Enchanted Repellents? These expensive consumables could’ve been the difference.
ive ran it twice this weekend 1 on sunday and 1 on monday.
sunday raid got to twin emps and was getting trucked by the melee emp and monday got cthun to 1/4th health but got overwhelmed.
both turned off hm after a few attempts on fankriss and the other just did it before fankriss .
the adds on fankriss and cthun seem a bit overtuned.
its a good instance despite the buggs though.
Don’t feel bad. My raid team can really only raid on Tuesday/Wednesday, so we didn’t even go this week due to a weird release schedule.
if guilds lose half their roster over ONE WEEK of bugs, then thats really silly
it has bugs, it needs some tweaks, its far from unplayable and broken
as for puggable, i just pugged up to cthun fine with 18 people
How did you deal with fankriss?
? Doesnt he just summon worms? We just all stacked on tail and mad aoe’d entire fight, super simple, no consumes/WB with 18 ppl
Our guild got the bugged Cthun… phase 2 he insta spawned 2 of each tentacle and we couldnt get them down, we had 8 up by the time we wiped. dookie game

You couldn’t clear AQ on “Hardmode” on launch week with 4 pug groups and 2 Guild runs?
Maybe that’s why it is considered “Hardmode”
Two of your runs got to C’Thun on Heroic difficulty. That’s applaudable on it’s own.
Please stop asking Blizzard to simplify the game, especially on launch week.
Get gear, get more reps in, and try to overcome whatever is causing you to not be able to progress past your current plateau.
This. Collect your gear upgrades and comeback next week. It gets slightly easier each time a raider gets an upgrade.
Are you dumb? Multiple fights are clearly overtuned or have insanely fast respawns on adds. They also are completely bugged. Read some of the comments or talk to other guilds before posting something so stupid.
You’re not supposed to easily clear a “Heroic” version of the most recent raid.
It’s specifically meant to be very challenging.
If it was “impossible”, then it wouldn’t have been cleared yet.
Some fights are bugged, yes.
Some raid IDs were ruined, yes.
This doesn’t mean they need to nerf it because you haven’t managed to complete the raid within the 3 days that it has been out.
Return after the maintenance, get some more consumables and gear, more repetitions/review strategies, and clear the content.
Stop asking to be spoon-fed boss kills/gear.
Idk why you talking when you couldnt even clear twin imps on heroic. You havent even seen how bugged most heroic fights are. You also had no pulls on cthun. Sit down please. Couldnt even kill normal Ouro . Plus you were in there for 10 hours. Holy crap. All my runs were sub 4-5 hours
Your logs are public. You had 20 people. On normal mode. You wiped on first attempt. And majority of your group are above average players with atleast purple parse averages for previous raids.
Nothing about the tuning of this raid is casual. The current state of this raid doesn’t fit with the season of dad’s casual content that sod has had so far.

This ^^ there are very good players/guilds doing the raid and dying. I doubt that feels good at all. Progression is good. Dying non-stop because everything is broken is not.
Main raid, took 2 days, but cleared on hardmode, with 26ish people.
Trash was easier than classic.
No issues with bosses until Fankriss. Big Worm adds seem to spawn almost none stop / a lot compared to classic. We eventually had to unboon for the dps to get by on day1 with fewer people.
Optional bosses seem a tad easier due to them no longer being optional.
Twins ended our day1, but we were trying classic strats. In the end, we just had a good number of melee (along with some ranged) focus on adds to keep the areas clear and let the rest do their thing.
Cartoon, still wipes if you peak, our shaman placed a totem a little too close and cartoon seen it. Frankly (on hardmode, unsure if hardmode is the cause) he seems to spawn little eyes way too much. They would even spawn stacks in 2s and 3s. And stuff keeps spawning during vulnerability phase. In the end, like Twins, we just focused on adds then boss, eventually killing him after 3 attackable phases.
My second raid got stuck at Fankriss and ran out of time and had to call it.
I bet your group mythic clears BWL with ease. I get AQ40 is supposed to be hard but if you bring 26 solid players and still cant beat it something is overtuned and its the raid.
Just bring 40 people . …
