I preferred the legion/shadowlands/bfa version of legendary items

I like legendary items, but some i like more than others.

There are some pretty clear issues with having exclusive legendary items, one issue is that they usually cost a lot of money to make. Or just none at all.

The second issue is that ultimately that weapon has to be taken into consideration when balancing, so usually the result is a sub par spec without legendary item, and good with the item.

If everyone has a legendary item then things are different. Ultimately i think it’s better to have an item for everyone rather than a class exclusive one.

What’s legendary about an item that everyone has?
Also, did BFA have any legendaries?

after they took away the hard RNG of leggos in legion it was fine.
but at the start of the expac? no.

Shadowlands legendaries?

Really?

It had the legendary cloak for insanity protection.

I thought it was that fake artifact color like the HoA.

I mean. At least you could get the item you wanted and it wasn’t hard to do. Out of the box of things to complain about with Shadowlands, Legendaries are not one of them.

I like quest legendaries, it guarantees you get to use them during the patch and have fun with it. The current version is garbage and doesnt allow you to have fun with them if you get bad rng. 15 weeks to guarantee a legendary drop followed by 200k+ in gold and a grind? What a waste of time.

You have a point. Rarity these days (maybe it always was?) is just a way to break up item level tiers. Legendaries should be like 1 per realm or something, ilke the Black Qiraji mount for opening the gates of AQ.

Agreed.

Should be one legendary then epic version for everyone else that’s a little less powerful.

There is an inherent advantage over others in pve and pvp on weather or not you have the legendary. What if instead we make legendaries comparable to all other drops in the game? That way you can keep saying “muh pretty orange box” and other people who have been cursed by rng can still actually compete.

Would you rather have a person that can run 25 mph or one that can run 15 mph on your team in a track meet?

Would you rather have a person (with lego) doing 250k dps or one that can do 225k dps (without lego)?

Cant do that, that leads to inherent advantages over other players. Thats like giving steroids to a few athletes and not the others and then competing for the same event.

1 player per server having say a 10 ilevel advantage in one slot is irrelevant. It’s bragging rights for them and everyone else can have 99% of the same benefits.

who cares about bragging rights, its just luck based which isn’t fun for the 99% of people

Legion did Legendaries right (and AP, and AW, and AK, Titanforging).
I’d love for that model to come back with some adjustments.

RNG drop from everywhere + BLP and dinar-style weekly tokens to target specific legendaries.

The worst part of Legion was the Illidan wank.

No. God no. Legion RNG Legendaries was the absolute worst way to do legendaries. DF RNG legendaries aren’t really any better.

If it’s going to be a legendary everyone gets it should be MoP/WoD style. If it’s going to be restricted to single classes it should be more like Wrath and Cata legendaries.

Either way it should be a long quest line, not just a single RNG drop followed by gold sink.

Nah that was Gavel. For some reason Blizzard made it an epic instead of a legendary.

I mean if a weapon is so strong that it was BiS for non-str users (like say Guardian druids), then it is not an epic weapon, it is a legendary.

Well, as I was saying in another thread, I just came back to WoW after not playing s2 and s3.
And I was gonna play my DK and Evoker… started catching up on gear etc. Then when I learned of those legendaries I now feel like abandoning those characters and it sucks. Because by the time I get them, if I ever get them, this expansion will be over. I don’t have a guild anymore, I never did those raids, so I have no shot at doing mythic kills.

So, honestly while they were ‘cool’ to have in s2 and s3, it sucks that they’re still made relevant in s4 and people can’t escape this grind or feeling like they’re missing something.

I’ll just wind up playing a class that doesn’t have a legendary and at least not have to be upset at this.

I’d rather we go back to quest line legendaries like the MOP cloaks and WOD rings. Long, epic quest line that spans the whole expansion and each role gets one so that everyone gets some thing cool. The problem I saw with class/role specific legendaries that drop from a raid boss is now Amirdrassil is flooded with Warriors, Paladins, and DKs trying to get the axe and Aberrus is flooded with Evokers trying to get the claw.
