I only play SOD and I won’t be starting fresh

I also won’t be going to cata to play MOP. I won’t start on retail either.

If SOD is done, I’m done.

Just curious, is anyone else like me, or am I alone in this regard?

I know its going to be hard for me to play classic again, after playing SoD with all the good changes to classes, itll feel like a step back for sure.

Like thinking about what class to play in the new fresh is rough because most of them are garbage lol. I think the only thing thats making me play is TBC coming up

RIP to SoDs greatest warrior

you’d be solid in retail pvp I bet

they broke PvP, and went way too overboard on class tuning IMO.
it needed to slight and meaningful changes not massive increases to dmg output and things. I quit like more than half the player base after Phase 3 and they failed to start even attempting to balance the PvP

When every one rerolls to a balance Druid you know sod is in great hands!

i don’t think they’re going to get huge numbers for classic fresh. SoD has been fun but frustrating due to lack of content and i personally haven’t enjoyed BGs. I think continuing SoD would be great but i want them to take real risks at trying new content, not just copy pasted stuff.

I personally have absolutely no interest in fresh classic. I really liked classic but SoD just spoiled me way too much, it gave many things that I was hoping for and things I didn’t realize I wanted. A few of the big ones for me:

  • Classes having an actual rotation has been such a breath of fresh air compared to classic. Its still simplistic overall, but that’s classic in a nutshell. Better than just pressing one button an entire fight.

  • Not having to fight against 39 other people for a couple pieces of loot. The optional “hard modes” to increase drop rate has been really nice so far, and it being scaled to 20 players makes it so much better for loot distribution.

  • Flex raiding has been absolutely phenomenal, I wish they had added it sooner. Roster boss was hitting so hard back in P3 and throughout P4, but with the introduction of flex, I never want to go back to no flex.

Even small things like the unique class weapon questlines in BWL have been so much fun on the characters I’ve done them on so far. Even dual spec has been a breath of fresh air. Going back for Classic refresh would just make me miss everything that SoD had to offer. I truly do hope that we get news for some form of Classic+ by the end of SoDs life cycle. I understand there is definitely a playerbase that wants fresh realms (and they should still be getting them!), but many players that are currently in SoD don’t want to go to a watered down version of SoD, fresh or not. Best case scenario for me would them “ending” SoD by transfering them all our characters over to two mega servers (speaking for US, not other versions with this) for classic+, and release new content alongside fresh classic+ realms.

Yeah I have no desire to play any other version of WoW at this point other than SoD.

I also have no real desire to play SoD Phase 6 either though. None of my friends are playing anymore lol. I’ll get Rank 14, but I think after that I’m probably done.

I do think they’ll still have a solid showing of players, because there are many that have been really wanting fresh classic realms, and those that may not want classic, really want TBC, so they’ll be double dipping from both sides. I just don’t expect many people that are currently loving SoD, to move over to a bare bones version of it. That’s probably why a lot not currently happy with the direct, are SoD players. I’m personally really hyped for the Scarlet Crusade instanced content and Karazhan Crypts (obv Crypts hasn’t been officially announced by name, but cmon…their screenshot has a dungeon stone right outside the crypts lmfao). Really hoping for one of them to be actual raid content. I’d rather them go into Phase 8 and introduce one or both of these new instances as raid content, but not sure if its possible to develop entire new raids with their current dev team for classic.

Thanks for your opinions

Yes me also. Expansions never end. SoD is casual and alt friendly. Sure SoD is an evolving project, but its a lot of fun regarding all content.

You do though via your comment. shrug

I cancelled both of my subs last night.

There is no long term play in any of the versions at the moment. Era is the only one with some residual value in character progression it seems.

There is no way I could play fresh after playing SoD. Imagine going back to ret paladin. They improved from classic so much that literally every class would be worse off.

If I do play fresh it will only be to level a toon to play next year when TBC comes back out.

I hope they have some planned character progression for SoD toons other than we won’t close the server after p7. This is lterally the best version of WoW they’ve released. It seems like a waste.

My current hope is they are going to do classic/tbc fresh in phases because those servers are already self maintained and easy for them to keep updated because theyve already done this a few times on those. My hope is they allow SoD to progress through the dark portal into TBC and we do all new discoveries with bosses with different mechanics and hard modes for more loot and such.

fingers crossed

I would play an SOD style version of TBC and possibly MOP Classic.

Yah /agree with you here. SOD has given us so much more, can never go back to an era style mode now.

Same. I played Vanilla through WOTLK heavy but then went casual on nearly every expansion since, with multi-year gaps sometimes burning out after 6 months. SoD would be absolutely amazing if they fix PvP.

The lack of news on the future of SoD was disappointing. Even though I quit at p3 I had a ton of fun before the raid size changes. I have absolutely no desire to play through vanilla again on fresh. Mop is pretty meh for me (been there done that).

Overall the direct was a total L as far as what I was hoping for:
-Classic + news/future teaser
-Sod season 2 or whatever comes next
-Wow 2.0 hype/ future teaser

Any of the above would have been amazing and a step in the right direction for bringing back the masses they lost.
