I no longer want to support or use curseforge or overwolf. Are there alternative methods of addon acquisition?

I do not really enjoy the idea of supporting curseforge or overwolf. I understand that these two have somewhat become a social media and addon conglomerate. Are there alternative methods of acquiring addons? is it considered copyright infringement if addons posted on curseforge outlets are hosted elsewhere?

I just manually check curseforge for addon updates and don’t use any software to do it. I don’t trust the software and while it’s a bit of a pain in the neck, especially after big patch releases, I find it better than having to rely on software that does also who knows what on your computer.

Okay, yeah good idea I guess that’s the only option. I will put adblocker on for curseforge.

Curseforge sadly no longer remove addons that violate the addon development policy.

I don’t think so? All my nerd friends use WowUp.io without much trouble.

I used to use it until add ons would no longer update. Maybe I was just impatient

WoWup is AAA-quality, but it was “shut down”, ended … whatever you want to call it.

But then it came back!! Was in beta for a LONG time.

It’s up now, but the selection of mods is limited to what it was before it was taken down.

I don’t know the specifics of what’s going on. I just know I used it a day or two ago and IT WORKS… but I only use about 10 mods, and it only had access to about half of them.
