I miss the Alliance War

I actually like this idea. Then Blizz could explore internal faction conflict, or allow for more enjoyable development of faction leadership and give players an “out” so maybe they can (even though they won’t) stop obsessing how every character isn’t acting how they feel would be utterly dispassionate and rational.

The problem is the writers who set up the interesting faction war either left or forgot how to set up ambiguous good guys and bad guys. The last 2 times they tried it, the Horde had to play the bad guys. It seems like WC3 and vanilla will be the only successful examples of 2 competing sides with reasons to be fighting each other where the player can empathize with both.

People were hating Sylvanas then too. Everyone just swept Genn under the rug after a while, no one cared what he did in the end. Neither of them were made better. I never said they needed to be rational. It made sense that Genn went nuts over Syl cause that was what his character has always been at the point.

It was still a horrible alliance vs horde story.

there was only 2 times alliance and horde had been in an outright war.

In MoP and in BFA, and both times it been pretty bad on the horde’s story (as they keep making them look evil)

Any other times, they just skirmished, not really a real war, even in vanilla.

Yep! I played EQ2, but I never utilized that system. In that game, if I chose an Arasai or Troll, I went into it absolutely embracing being just awful lol.

Moses can’t walk on water. Jesus and Thrall can.

I don’t want the war back unless they can prove that they can write a narrative where the alliance has inner-faction conflict and they can do bad things sometimes.

Otherwise we’re trapped in MoP forever.

Well you were wrong to do so. Congrats.

By that logic any shaman and death knight is Jesus.

Least I played then lmao

You get a dose of Horde vs Alliance next patch with a PvP centric timeline as well as the penultimate boss of the mega-dungeon being an enemy faction leader.

:man_shrugging:

I think it all went downhill when raiding each other’s Capital stopped being a thing. I used to love 75-100 peeps porting into Stormwind and the battles that ensued. Sooooo much fun that modern players will never know…

Turn on WarMode

Turn on Warmode or just play Classic (which is included with your sub). I mean it’s good times if you want to faction battle. There is also bgs/arenas any time you want to queue for those.

Not quite the same. Ironically, BfA’s opening cinematic was great. I do miss the warring as well. DF is okay, just not the Warcraft of days of yore.

That’s what I’ve been doing. Been doin the HC stuff. Think I might just level every class to 60 xD

Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, and Battle for Azeroth zones still exist as do Battlegrounds and Arenas…

becuase BFA was terrible.

Wars over grandpa if you wanna perpetually kill people for no reason than them being different than you try Classic.

No. Because Blizz will no doubt just make the Horde the villains one sidedly again. They are incapable of making the Alliance primary villains. Hell the Horde has had 2, count 'em 2 whole civil wars. 3 if you count Undercity while the Alliance has had 0. Nah, I’m good on AvH wars for a good while.

So did I. I don’t think this was the comeback you think it is.

Not everyone stays on the same character for all of WoW lol.

I don’t play this character. He’s my bank alt.
