There is a right and wrong way to do a lot of things.
I am not a fan of Gatekeeping in general, but its not always inherently bad. Doing it through level locks is one of the worst forms of it. Especially in a progression based video game. That is the core part of the game. This isnt some reputation or raid lock out type of content you are gatekeeping lol. Its the entire game. The idea here isnt subjective. Its terrible.

IMO, I’d prefer a Fresh realm every TWO years, like the OG Vanilla. It really deserves that time. No big rush, just enjoy being in the World and try to get through Naxx if you like and/or multiple characters going through all the content.
As popular as Era is becoming again, I’m worried though about Bots, selfish and lazy gold-buying cheaters and their GDKPs killing the spirit of Era/Vanilla, like they have end of TBC and Wrath. (And as an OG Vanilla 2005 player, NO, GDKPs did not exist, at least on Eonar out in the open like they do today. Gold buying existed - but people were shunned for buying gold and considered lazy and a cheater…which is still the case, regardless of how people like to justify being cheaters. Morally, it’s still cheating even if a lot of other cheaters do it. But I digress.)
This is why I play HC now. Hardcore eliminates completely the scourge of gold-buying cheaters, the cancer of Bots that they create and their beloved selfish, narcissistic GDKPs.

As I started to see posts in the LFG channel about buying and selling dungeons runs and even some GDKP groups I found my enthusiasm for Classic Era start to plummet, and started playing less and less.
It’s nice Classic Era is getting more popular, but the fact Blizz doesn’t police Classic servers means it will lead to more and more bots. More and more gold selling and buying, and the services that encourage such things will be more prevalent as well. And I have no interest in that.
