Things from BfA, yes–but not BfA as a whole. BfA was pretty bad, and SL managed to be worse. But even SL has plenty of likeable qualities imo!
People who liked Legion/BfA type world quests miss them.
That’s how I feel with the mobs in ZM regarding the kill 5 big dudes, 3 aliens and corral the 10 birds.
They don’t spawn enough and Alliance tags everything. Also, I dislike the color blobs in Maldraxxus.
In the era of cross-faction, when my newly-boosted Alliance druid is the designated auction house broker for my 10 max-level horde characters, how and why is this even still a thing? I get faction tagging in Warmode. Otherwise, it should have been deleted from the game yesterday.
People complained about “being forced to” do every world quest every day. So they reduced the amount of them, but a consequence of this is that they all take longer to complete now.
People had no self control, instead of just picking and choosing whichever they liked best to complete their emissary for the day, they did all of them and complained about doing all of them.
It’s the same reason we stopped having regular daily quests after MoP. Exactly the same reason. People did all of them every single day and complained about it, when blizzard stated the intent was to pick one or two of the reps to work on at a time.
Probably, because they were not as rewarding to do in Shadowfail like they were in the previous two expansions. And why they confined invasions/assaults to only the Maw was another fail in this expansion imo. Expecting to see more of the same in Dragonfail also lol. And ya they were pretty fixated on making to many of those fill the blue bar wq’s in this expansion.
One thing I noticed is that fewer WQs can be cheesed: in legion the Kirin Tor ones particularly with flying. They definitely made sure this time around no shortcuts can be taken aside from ilvl power creep
Actually, I think the point was that for some really high-end guilds, it actually WAS necessary to do every WQ every day to max out rep, in order to get certain items or recipes in time for progression.
Still. I would rather have 10 WQ that each take 2 minutes to complete, than 5 that each take 4 minutes to complete.
And also, you can’t design an entire game around what the top 1% of professional and semi-professional players feel compelled to do to get optimum results when it damages the experience for everyone else.
Plus in Zereth Mortis you can’t go 5 metres without something aggroing.
I HATE those flying raptora which are literally everywhere. And the mawsworn choking the sky in one area who dismount you.
It’s also not at all immersive. In what world do lone, individual birds decide to pick a fight with armored mooses riding on the backs of dragons for no reason? It defies logic and natural instinct.
The Mawsworn are annoying as heck, but at least they make sense.
The one from BFA I miss most is the one in Kul Tiras where you hop on the bird, and fly around dropping bird on drunk sailors lol.
Players were complaining that the rewards were too great. It was a combination of top players who couldn’t resist doing that content for its rewards, and thinking those rewards were too good for casuals. Like complaining casuals were getting too much vendor trash gear.
They did reduce the rewards. But even Ion said that the development goal was to increase “engagement”, ie to make each quest take longer to complete. So multistage quests where you have no idea what how many stages are ahead or what the end goal will be.
The issue with daily quests (undoubtedly the designers thought this was an issue, maybe not so much players) is that people did them until they got rep and bought their thing. Then they stopped. Content designers have tried to move toward perpetual world questing, where you are never completely done. Which feels bad.
After all the hate BFA got from forums and CCs suddenly everyone thinks it’s wonderful. Strange.
Everybody didn’t hate everything about BfA.
Of course you are right, in fact lots of people loved BFA. I did. But you wouldn’t know it from reading the forums back then.
By mid to end Dragonflight we will be hearing people moaning about how they miss Shadowlands.
See in this mode it makes sense. I’m just griping because I’m on a Alliance heavy server.
I tend to have to grab the scraps when I can
I did World Quest everday in BFA. Sometimes I’d complete all of them! I loved it! Also they felt rewarding between the caches, resources and Azerite. I do miss them and sometimes I’ll do a few if I have a sub for nostalgia or some Islands.
Open World content is my favorite content and somehow in SL they managed to ruin it.
Miss them too. I think it will always be the most under-rated expac
Well 8.3 was good. The Heart of Azeroth essence system was the best system ever designed. It resembled WotLK Glyphs. The issues were the time-gating and poor implementation of systems that took till 8.3 to refine. If BFA launched as 8.3 and they didn’t have a rotation on corruption vendor for no reason then BFA could of been a good expansion.
Island Expeditions were awesome too! I rather they build on that then Torghast. Islands have so much potential for team play and also PvP.
i still have never completed/won that ridiculous wheelbarrow race in maldraxxus
