I miss BFA world quests

Yeah they weren’t exciting, but they at least got out out in the world, and they were a chill activity to do. Plus, you saw tons of World PVP. It was kind of cool. I don’t really get that in Shadowlands - all of their world quests are a pain in the butt to do, traveling between zones sucks, and the zones themselves are (IMO) very bad.

Yeah, I hope they never have an expansion where the major zones aren’t connected. I didn’t mind it as much in Battle for Azeroth as they had three zones connected per faction, so it wasn’t as bad as Shadowlands.

World quests in the vain of Legion or Battle for Azeroth would be welcome over the Shadowlands version ANY day of the week. Hate Shadowlands world quests. Way too many steps, very unengaging and just not fun to do at all.

The best thing about them was the fact that if the quest gave you the same item, there would often be a small upgrade - 5 item levels. In SL (so post-squish) this would be about 2-3 item levels.

Not much but it gave you an upgrade path.

Don’t know if this is a popular opinion but I liked the many “Kill 1 and done” quests in BFA.

I want things immersive too, I just don’t want my WQ dailies for a emissary/calling reward to take 10+ minutes. I know its just “10 minutes” but across several alts to make some gold it can add up to a lot. In fact I don’t even think its that the WQ take that long, more so some of them are just downright annoying to do (in SL that is).

Contiguous zones were better than what we see now. I liked to drift between zones will mining and doing quests.

im not going to be pleased if DF has these SL world quests that are designed to waste your time.

Totally agree.

I’m actually hoping we will start seeing some Legion/BFA style world quests on EK and K. I just feel depressed when I go out to some of the older zones and literally I’m the only player in the entire zone.
There’s a lot of empty space just sitting unused that could fuel some interesting world quests.

There is one world quest that really stands out for me in Shadowlands as being one of the worst of all time.
The quest is Trashin’ the Camp in Revendreth.
It looks like a basic fill the bar quest, but the mobs are annoying and the bar fills slowly.
To top it off once you fill the bar you get another objective to fulfill popping up!

Also, why does seeing other players in SL always seem to mean a bad time when trying to complete a world quest. Even if they are same faction 9 times out of 10 it just doubles the time to finish if you happen to hit a busy shard/server/time/whatever.

Please never make that ardenweald spriggans or spider on the wall world quests ever again.

BfA did world quests right. Legion did world quest rewards right. Shadowlands did not do either right.

I am on a low pop server. What surprises me is actually seeing other people in the other zones. Usually the other faction (not surprising given the population) but still at least one, sometimes two others.

But given I also get on in the mornings early and see about as many in ZM when it’s not Tuesday/Wednesday, I end up wondering where everyone is.

But it is a shame that so much better build world is out there and abandoned by Bliz when they really should be leveraging it.

Ya for some reason they decided to make most wqs have 2 steps to complete where as bfa mainly had 1. Horrible decisions really.
Alsoo in bfa there were good central areas too pvp. In sl there really just isnt any place where most people will be at anymore.

This. The thing is, the longer a repeatable quest takes to do and the more steps are involved, the more tedious it will feel the 10th, 20th, 50th, 100th time someone does it.

World Quests should be simple, easy, quick content you bang out fast and move on. No need to make a production out of it.

The best version of WQs was Legions iteration since you also had the chests that actually had useful stuff in them. And you didn’t have to pick up those annoying quests in some hub. It was quite satisfying to fly around the broken isles with some twink or even your main and tick off those easy world quests.

A big part was also the Titanforging system. It had its problems especially in Raids and M+ but it made WQs actually exciting as you could always get something useful even if the chance was really low. Imo Titanforging should come back in a different iteration on top of the current gearing systems. It would also encourage people more to run older raids or simply content their ilvl wouldn’t be appropiate anymore.
I remember doing so many EN, NH and sometimes even ToS runs because people needed a potential ugprade from there or were farming legendaries. All content was relevant and that essence has been lost. It makes the game feel dead since only 1 raid is relevant, WQs are useless, and of course the same old boring dungeons since release.

Sorry but all the tryhards and hardcore elitist were wrong in demanding TF to go completely. Sure now its easier to gear up to a level you are done with. But now most content is dead as well as the excitement.

I found from login to logout, it’s often more like 15-20 minutes per alt including time to pick up quests from hub, fly to zone, do quests, hearth back to hub, and turn in quests. Also worth noting that in previous incarnations, I never had to go to a different place to get the emissaries before going to the zone, nor return to a hub outside of that zone to turn them in. The whole design in SL is wildly less convenient.

And don’t even get me started on the fact that anima comes in 52 different flavors that all take up bag slots and that if the anima can’t fit in your bags the moment you finish the quest, it doesn’t count for your weekly. I mean, are you serious?

I don’t understand the reasoning behind why they created covenant callings that involve either clearing a dungeon or complete one elite WQ. It funnels all of those choosing to do the elite WQ into the same small area.

The hardest part of the WQ then becomes finding mobs that have not been tapped. There have been many times where I 've seen multiple groups flying around racing to tap a mob first so they could make progress on the stupid WQ.

There seems to be a greater number of WQs this expansion where I dislike the design, but in this particular case all they had to do was have each covenant target a different zone.

It certainly looks like they threw out a lot of the lessons they learned in previous expansions. Artifact tokens took up too much space, so Heart of Azeroth automatically gained AP. However, anima tokens are so totally different and much more exciting! sigh

Did Mechagon have too much extra crafting materials? Obviously the solution was for ZM to vomit out a cornucopia of crafting materials where many cannot even be vendored.

I spend more time traveling to do my callings than I spend doing the WQs to complete them. I hate the zone design in SL so much.
