I mean, it is kinda that bad for the Horde

That’s my point, yeah. Turned out that you didn’t need to roll Horde… unless you wanted to.

Speaking just for myself, I’m glad Thrall/Jaina didn’t happen. The thought of Thrall being romantically involved with another blonde human woman written by Christie Golden … it would make him seem like he has unhealthy mommy issues. (shudder)

I mean, he does have mommy issues, but not those mommy issues.

It certainly would have furthered the impression that all the races want to date humans. “Human potential” indeed.

I think that way back in the dayo, it was the only race x human relationship that really made sense besides sylvanas and nathaniel.

but definitely not post the attempted drowning of orgrimmar.

Curious if we will ever see something like a troll tauren hybrid :p.

These days I agree the story kind of looks bleak for horde players. Blizzard have removed faction conflict and story so they just write one narrative. That narrative is 90% alliance themed, everything from light/void to the characters to the races are predominantly alliance.

Even Thralls inclusion seems tacked on and not very relevant, he could almost be replaced by anybody. even the Haronir seemed more elfy and nightelf focused that anything to do with trolls. The whole Arathi content seems very much alliance themed. The titan themes are very much alliance as well.

Blizzard has failed on a fundamental level to include the horde in the coming experience. especially those who don’t care for the Blood/nightbourne(even then it feels like the story will be more void elf/Night elf focused in midnight even is based in silvermoon. There are so many things they could do with Trolls and tauren in this story they are criminally being underutilised.

Hahahaha. I do still stand by the fact that Aggra sucks, though.

I mean, if blondes are your thing, what’s so wrong about the blonde elves? Why’s it always gotta be humans?

I will say that after reading both of your comments; it does really bring my eye to the fact that that whole “Human potentinal” has been a thing for a very long time. I mean, I’d guess that in a fantasy setting - as we’re all humans in real life, you have to give some sort of reason as to why humans are interesting or fun to play in a fantasy setting. Apparently so fun that all three Windrunner sisters can’t get enough of that “Human potential”.

Tbf of those relationships sylvanas was the only one i enjoyed reading cause it was the only one that wasen’t so sickenly saccarine, with actual banter instead of just saying the words “my love” to each other 20 times

Yeah. Despite how absolutely screwed Sylvanas’ character has ended up being - that short story (Something something Mirror, I think?) where she basically favors Nathanos with the body of his nephew was a pretty good read. Granted, I hated pretty much all of the narrative direction WoW was going towards at that time, and Sylvanas’ character was getting totally gutted soon after by Afrasiabi, but even so - that short story was pretty great and written well.

**And what drives it home really well is a lot of the talk that Nathanos was one of the first humans to ever really be trained as a Quel’thalas Ranger, too.

I am so glad someone else picked that up, because most people deny it left and right when I discuss it.

It’s even worse than that—rumor has it that Vereesa was created solely to be the girlfriend of Knaak’s self-insert character Rhonin.

Turalyon is a dorky nerd but he’s hot. Fine wine, too, since he got better with age~ I can see why Alleria would get it.

I don’t, ah, particularly like Nathanos, but he’s loyal af and witty, so there’s that.

Rhonin… eeeeehhhhh. :person_shrugging:

…like, legit? Daaaamn :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

To be brutally honest, the vast majority of the playerbase never gave an F about the story from the get go.

The population was 2 to 1 Horde because they had the better racials for endgame raiding. The World First Guilds used to be totallly Horde although that has changed a bit.

I don’t think that the Devs have it out for the faction as a whole. There was a Cosby Room faction among the devs that had it out for female characters that got too above themselves as they saw it, (and possibly acting out some real life personal animosity as well) and they did a hatchet job on Sylvannas. The Alliance didn’t have a comparable female character until Moira started flexing her muscles. And for those who want to object, I consider both Jaina and Tyrande to be vastly inferior to our Dark Iron Queen in character development.

haven’t read the book, but in my mind Sylvanas and Nathanos probably liked it really rough with lots of dirty talk

…see I know what you MEANT, but that still sounds kinda, uh…

SHRUG, I guess it’s not a great look but I just can’t really begrudge him a QT Elf Waifu.

LMAO. Didn’t see it when I typed it. But now!

Guess you can ask Denuser back to make more cosmic / god-like beings into just being robots. :beers:

“Hey Sledge, you can quest with Thalyssra now! Turns out Tyrande was just a robot priestess, worshiping her robot god — and was rewired by Mechatorque into accepting the Nightborne!”

Gazlowe is going to be a big figure in this expansion. He got a short story and everything.

With the theme of this expac being underground and caves, I would be shocked if we did not have the Undermine in some way.

Not to mention that there will likely be some story with the Horde Earthen, which are now Horde, which means Dwarven aesthetics and lore also belong to Horde.

It becomes more and more true every day that people who complain about this issue just don’t know how to handle Horde lore becoming neutral like Alliance lore does. Horde players will not be satisfied to see Undermine if Alliance can also be there too, it will not count as Horde lore if Alliance can see it. It has to be Horde exclusive only, no Alliance can be near or else it’s not Horde lore.

Except its not horde lore becoming neutral, its alliance lore becoming neutral and then being implanted into the horde

That’s only the case for the Earthen. Not whatever Gazlowe will have going on. I guarantee that we will see complaints that whatever comes of Gazlowe’s developments will not be sufficient. Even if it’s Undermine realized as a huge megadungeon, it won’t be enough. Even though it is almost certain to be better, with more attention put on it than the Gilnean questline late last year had.

Also this criticism would apply to whatever role that Void elves will have in Midnight, given that is Horde lore taken and implanted into Alliance. Will you be prepared to make that same criticism then?

Right now, the big horde-side complaint I’ve seen is that it feels like there isn’t enough horde rep being used for this ostensibly neutral content. Gazlowe showing up in the opening patch would be an improvement.

Personally, it feels like a bitter pill for Earthen to be playable as a neutral race at all because they’re just… dwarves of another flavor, and not something I want to see integrated into the horde. Sadly for me that’s an inevitability, but “dwarf lore is now horde lore” sounds like a bad concept.

given that not only do we not even know the context of that storyline and that its not been included in any of the marketing, it makes sense that people would complain still cause all they see is thrall not having a story arc and only showing up at the beginning
