I got disconnected for no reason while I was on Plunderstorm. I had saved 1500 coins and now when I log in again, where are my coins? This is pretty annoying.
Unfortunately, the game considers you having quit the match and any coin you earned in that match forfeit. I had one match where I had around 1500 plunder and was 19 players left, went to kill an NPC and then nothing worked, and I could run around the entire map able to kill nothing or be attacked.
I had to hard close the application to even get out of the match, but also the match only started with 21 players as well, so maybe that was the reason, but I don’t know. But again, unless you are killed, or you win leaving before conclusion of the match is a forfeit.

I’m remembering (faintly) that this was a policy change in the first iteration of Plunderstorm that alt-f4 or disconnect quitting became a forfeit because anti-PvP players were force-quitting the game rather than allowing a PvP attacker to kill them, if they couldn’t escape into the storm for death on their own terms.
The system can’t tell the difference between deliberate or accidental disconnect.

Nod back in the days before high-speed internet, 300 baud upwards to 56k modem, lag / latency was a huge issue. Most game companies consider it a forfeit if you disconnect wither, it was you or them and even if you were winning. I remember match’s where you were doing the circle of death shooting at each other and no one dying.
But yep, it even warns you if you decide to quit a match you forfeit any rewards. So, it’s eat the storm or death by NPC/Player.
