In content where it matters? Never.
I would love there to be some challenge to it. The Darkmoon cannon takes more time and skill.
Joined as tank today, promptly kicked for “tank”.
At this point, the “fight” has become so outdated and unnecessary, that I’d rather have blizzard make an npc that will sell you the box once a day for like 100g or something during the holiday. It’s a pseudo lotto as it is, might as well go all the way with it.
Because I’m in no danger of dying, and can 3 shot each boss.
I’ve been saying they should create a version without a queue, level 70 only, give the boss an extra mechanic and buff boss HP/Damage by 3000%, but make the mount guaranteed drop for 1 member of the party.
Honestly the queues would be shorter if tank/healer roles weren’t required. They’re not needed for these fights anyway.
My warlock could easily tank this

Cause a tank isn’t needed for that encounter in the slightest. The damage is negligible, 2/3 mobs don’t even focus “a tank” and the last guy can easily just be dps’d down with zero thought whatsoever. It’s objectively faster to 4 dps 1 heal it.
I mean… I literally tanked it once yesterday on my Holy priest. It took a DPS until the third mob to get aggro off me.
I wasn’t in any danger either. Just kept spamming smite and fire.
You actually dont even need tank or healer for the fight unless they are all 60s
I’ve “tanked” this a few times on my MW monk. Between healing aggro and doing more dps than anyone else I had em locked on me for the whole 40 second encounter. I just hit touch of death on the untankable mob when he ran by.
Typically I am an advocate for tanks being tanks, but in this particular instance all it does, at most, is have the two tankable mobs run to whoever has aggro on em. If you’re in a lower level or drastically undergeared group it’s a little more hectic. Still a minute or so encounter in those cases on average.
And I have the exact opposite experience. My alliance toons have maybe a minute queue while my horde hunter takes 5 minutes or more.
As long as they actually start the fight, I might not even notice what role they are specced into. It’s went the “tank” is hanging back waiting for someone else to start the fight that I raise an eyebrow. But I’ve decided to just interpret any such incident as “new player, doesn’t yet know how this works”. True or not, it makes me feel better.
And they probably just went and kill with 4 members before they were even supplied a tank.
A tank isnt needed. A healer isnt needed.
Heck, 1 dps is probably enough to complete it.

I did expect them to change the encounter after they did that for Halloween. But I’m glad they didn’t because I’m still grinding Crown Chemical Co. for that dumb rocket.
