I just want WoW to be more fun

that’s all. not gonna write a massive post about system changes, equipment drops, how i’d overhaul the gameplay to be more action oriented, how i’d add more races, more types of mounts or customizations, how i’d change the combat to be less of a ‘press X button after Y key when this procs’, or how i’d make the classes all feel like different videogames altogether…

i’m just gonna say, i want WoW to be more fun. that’s all.

hope you all are having a good day/evening.

I have been playing since WotLK. For me it’s been a nice ride: improvements each expansions. I really enjoy new map designs compared to old flat empty terrains. I enjoy verticality in maps too. WQ are a major improvement over dailies. Dungeons and raids are more fun and well designed then in the past. People seems to focus a bit more on objectives in PVP which makes the games more challenging. This is basic stuff for WoW, this is what i signed for. This is what WoW has offered since the beginning.

I don’t know what would make the game more fun.

But there is a reason why people leave to play other games and come back… World of Warcraft is very well done. It is when you compare it to other games than you see the difference.

Fun is subjective. I know its been said before with this game before. Not everyone is having fun but there are others who are. People are going to always have something for or against in this game.
But I do see your outcry of wanting the game to be fun.
Good evening to you. Hope you have a good night.

gonna disagree with you on that one, but not because i think your wrong, i just preffered dailies to world quests. maybe cause once you accepted a daily, you did’nt have a limited time to complete it before the game would just ‘yoink’ it away. but hey, that’s just me.

…i swear, most of the time i go to do world-quests, there’s usually like, half an hour left before it goes away (sounds like a lot, but without flight, i’m lucky i can get it done before it goes away.)

I would also like WoW to be more fun like back in the day. It feels like it morphed in to one of those games they used to heckle other players in the forums that said they were leaving WoW for…hic!

Let’s get subjective for a moment. More fun than what? You wanted WoW to be more fun. Ok? More fun than 6 flags, more fun than going to a ballgame, more fun than going to a movie?

I understand your basic query, but where else can you be entertained for 50 cents p/day. Not bad for the entertainment dollar if you ask me.

WoW is a wanna be e-sport now. Everything revolves around M+, so if the meta doesn’t fit into this part of the game, it ain’t going to happen.

fun like other games. like say, halo 3, infamous 2, brutal legend, god of war, skyrim, sly 2, zelda:botw, rather than borderlands (yes, these are all last-gen games, but i don’t have a modern console aside from the switch, so that’s why botw is on the list).

heck, if i went into my long-winded explanation of how i’d overhaul WoW, each class would feel similar to one of these games (not 100% but… similar).

Fair enough, you answered. But what you didn’t do is separate those games you mentioned from the one you are currently playing. If those games are so much better, why not play them?

How would you fix the current game then?

i’d play those games, but i’ve played those games to death. i mean, i love their gameplay, but at a certain point, their games just run out of content. you complete the story and then… that’s it. there’s some after-game stuff, but… it does’nt really continue.

what i’d do, is i’d take the great gameplay of those games, and apply it to WoW’s classes and enemies.

for example: infamous 2’s gameplay feels perfect for a mage to me. so they’d have that run-and-gun meter-managing gameplay of that game. warriors would have brutal legend’s simple-effect combat for their gameplay, rogues would have sly 2’s gameplay (though, i’d change their stealth significantly, so they’re only invisible, when behind enemies… their name/healthbars would always be invisible though in ‘stealth’), you get the idea.

i’d make it so we’d actually have to aim our abilities, not just face the general direction of our foes, and mash button-combos.

mounts i’d give some function, so they’re not just ground, flying, and aquatic. i’d give’em abilities and healthbars, similar to how vehicles work.

and as for enemies… well, i’d give’em proper hitboxes and a.i., so they don’t just sit there, and cast ability after ability, until they either run-out, their healthbar depletes to nothing, or it depletes and they run away. give a good portion the ability to to dodge, have them interact with the enviroment (actually… i’d give us the ability to do that too.)

WoW has a lot going for it, but… it needs some big change. heck, i’d change the quests too, make’em more like skyrim where, sure, there’s kill x amount of mobs, but those quests are’nt necessary ones, and are just side-quests.

sorry if i went a bit crazy… i just… i love WoW, but i feel it needs some changes it’s not getting, in favor of reskinning mobs, barely changing abilities, and shoe-horning in more mounts that don’t amount to anything, to distract us till the art team can make more stuff, rather than actual big changes.

You make some great points, but your quote says more about any game out there than anything. We consume content faster than it can be developed, that is just a sad reality. I am not a coder or a dev, but how long does it take a gaming company to develop enough content for three months? I go to see a new movie. I sit there for 90 minutes. I know darn well it took more than 90 minutes to make.

very true. very true… but it does’nt really change the fact i still wish WoW was more fun. the game feels more like a crappy job sometimes, rather than a game we all pay for. sometimes, not all the time.

lemmie ask you, what quests do you find more fun, the ones where the game tells you to kill x amount of mobs, or the mini-game like ones, where you say, use a turret to kill waves of enemies? or, play (shudder) flappy kyrian, or a ‘turtle has made it to water!’ simulator, or that literal plants vs zombies one?

…i’ve lost my train of thought on this question, something about variety in quests, and fun in WoW or something…

i’m pretty tired, so… please excuse my forgetfulness.

I will answer the first part of your question first, and this may be the saddest answer of all. I don’t know? What is supposed to be fun? My idea of fun in this game is actually getting my chores done so that I can go fishing. No, I am not trolling, I actually spend hours fishing.

I get on runs. I enjoy the covenant quests. To me one of the most underrated quest chains is the Venth’yr one. I am enjoying that one immensely. I guess I am simple to please, or I find enjoyable tasks around any corner. Idk, sorry for the bad answer.

Reminds me of Homer Simpson beating the side of his TV yelling “be more funny!!!”

not gonna judge ya, but the fact you enjoy fishing more than doing chore-quests, is kind of a sign about how the game feels right now.

just sayin, if the game were more fun, you’d probably be doing more questing/content that blizzard wants you to do, y’know?

btw, sidenote about my gameplay overhaul ideas i forgot to mention, i’d add controller support. just… forgot to add that to the list.

don’t confuse my love of fishing for lack of doing content. I specifically stated I like getting my content done (chores) so that I can go fishing. There may be semantics there, but that doesn’t change anything I stated.

of course, of course. but… reffering to the main-content as ‘chores’ does’nt make it sound very fun, y’know?

Ok, thanks for the most generic input possible.

if i put less generic wording, folks tend to get all bent-outta-shape about my ideas for the game, so… y’know.
