I just don't get it. (Dragonflight Alpha)

I have been playing World of Warcraft since 2007 on THIS account. I’ve had a sub practically every month since then as well with only a few months missed as I had taken breaks, with also leveling and playing all of the endgames of every expansion. I have never received an alpha in all of my years playing and I really just cannot wrap it around my head. The only type of beta/alpha I have ever gotten was Cataclysm beta and I was one of the last waves to receive it right before it shut down anyway.

I just really don’t understand as a valuable consumer of this game, I would love to dive into testing and try to find bugs and report things, I just have never been given the chance.

Does anyone else feel like this as well? I feel like I deserve at least one alpha in my lifetime. Dragonflight is the expansion I’ve been most excited for recently and it has brought a spark back into me grinding this game. Maybe I’m just whining, but man it would feel nice to feel appreciated and be able to get something once in awhile for all of my time.

Sounds great in theory until there’s so many bugs and you report them all and nothing chAnges. Idk it’s not as fun as it seems I guess. But hey, maybe you’ll get invited…

Regular player don’t ever get into the Alpha. Alpha is mainly for Friends, Family, Streamers and people who promote the game. You may get into the Beta if there even is one… I’ve been in the last 4 Betas.

I mean yeah I get that, but even if nothing changes me being able to try it out and REPORT things makes me feel a lot more valued than sitting here with nothing.

Literally have regular player guildies in it.

But that’s like not true, a ton of people I see and know are just random players who got the alpha, and I’ve only gotten beta ONE time that was in like 2013 I think right before cata. I just think it’s crazy how people with almost brand new accounts can get alpha and beta WEEKS/MONTHS before me

Maybe there isn’t going to be a Beta this time in the past I’ve never heard of any regular players getting Alpha invites.

There is literally a blue post that says “how to get alpha access” and it says to beta opt in and you might.

Of course there is going to be a beta.

And I have seen “regular players” getting Alpha every single time. Alpha is just, really small. The likelihood in general is small.

It has ZERO to do with how long you’ve been playing for the Beta invites are random.

That’s not really the point I was making, I understand that I’m not owed but its a little disheartening seeing people who have been playing for only a year get it over me.

But that’s the heart of your issue. You feel you’re more deserving.

I don’t think they based it on who they think deserves it. They 100% based it on free publicity and maybe some random invite generator

I wish it was like WoD sign-up for a 1 year sub and be guaranteed Beta Access.

Obviously its not who deserves it, but there definitely should be a wave for people who’ve been playing for 10+ years, like at least random OUT of those people instead of random for everyone, then a separate wave thats completely random.

Why? I wanna know your reasons. If I’m wrong and I’m being whiny, fair, but I really don’t see why not. If I’ve been playing for 10+ years and still have an active sub I feel like there should be a separate wave.
