I hope we don't see Tyrande in Patch 8.2

They said to access her palace we have to get something called Javelins of Suramar.
Which may indicate we are going to see at least some Nightborne in there.

I never said to not bring Tyrande, Malfurion, Maiev, the Blood Elves, Night Elves, Highborne, Farondis, Nightborne, and Void Elves into this. My suggestion was to bring the Darkspear since they hate the naga for forcing them to flee from their own islands. The Coilskar Naga from the Illidari should be involved with this to show conflict or, at least, a cameo of sort.

Farondis would be more appropriate to me. He and his people have been suffering her direct wrath for like 13,000 years.

So much this.

The only reason it doesn’t make sense for Tyrande to get involved is that she’s trying to reclaim Kaldorei lands from the Horde, but I honestly would LOVE to see the Night Warrior smack town Queen Ursula in Nazjatar nice and hard
I’m just 100% sure that if Tyrande did head out to Nazjatar, the Horde would actually claim the Night Elf lands.

It’s pretty terrible when the narrative can’t let you enjoy a logical progression of a story.

This is what I’m expecting too. I can’t remember the exact interview though.

Darkshore is probably wrapping up and I think Tyrande had been killing her way through Ashenvale. They’ve still got a pretty significant side army despite WoT so they should be able to spare a force to head to Nazjatar.

I agree. I would have liked to see more from her. She wasn’t evil she just made the wrong choice and didn’t even try to send for help, but I don’t think she would have been unreasonablein the end. That nightwell addiction was serious. Her in this story line would have been really intresting.

I’m not so sure.

I think this raid is actually the set-up for an even bigger role for Azshara. And that’s when I think Tyrande and Malfurion should be brought in. You don’t waste them on the reveal.

If this is the case, I’ll accept that. Azshara more than deserves to be her own Expansion boss, after all. Its just, attacking her palace, the seat of her power, comes off as a very, ‘final encounter,’ kind of deal.

I mean, worst case scenario maybe its time to have Feathermoon and Jarod Shadowsong to take to the front lines in that situation; if their bosses are bogged down reclaiming Darkshore. There are more big name WotA veterans floating around in the Kaldorei rosters than just Tyrande and Malf after all; and those two could certainly use all the time and attention they can get.

Plus, there really isn’t a guarantee that we’re going to ice the third Warbringer within the raid. Seems like she’s doing her own thing, but there really isn’t anything preventing her from calling in her tentacled partner to help if she feels she’s getting overwhelmed. Tyrande and Malf really should be there for the final clash against the Queen of the Kaldorei, but if Naz’jatar is NOT going to be her end, things “could” be a little more flexible as long as there is still strong NE representation.

Alternatively, I don’t see the harm in splitting them up. Each is practically a demigod in their own right. Mal hangs back to handle Darkshore, Tyrande moves in on Azshara.

Yup, that’s equally possible. Honestly, if nothing else (despite all the other crap they put up with)
the NEs do still have a really solid roster of characters at their disposal. There really is no excuse not to have them be a leader within Naz’jatar for the Alliance side.

No excuse to you, or to me. But you know the devs have to cram at least three more Jaina cinematics into BfA.

When classic rolls around, Male Night Elf Hunter will take its rightful place as the butt of every forum joke.

YES,hopeffuly is this.
i hope that we don’t kill azshara.
i hope that azshara actually wins.
and i hope that this will set up something far more bigger where it will give the chance for tyrande/nelfs to shine. when the story needs it.

is just that right now
we are in the middle of a war and nelfs are busy in kalimdor vs the horde.

i hope

This is acceptable. Say if Azshara wins and we have to face her again later, that’s even you being out the big guns and set the three elven armies in position.

Anduin
 stay home.

Of characters who would make sense involved in an Azshara storyline, the headline names for me would be Tyrande, Malfurion, Illidan (who knows maybe he’ll returned all Titan juiced this time), Jarod, Maiev, Shandris and to a lesser (only lesser because their story is newer to us) Farondis and Thalyssra. Tyrande was kidnapped by Xavius (If I’m remembering right) and taken to Zin’Azshari during the WoTA. Malfurion infiltrated the palace via the Emerald Dream and got a bullseye on his back for doing so. Illidan of course (which is doubtful) would be one of the top three as well.

Jarod, Maiev and Shandris because they also fought in the WoTA though they didn’t have quite the same one on one with Azshara as the others. And of course Farondis and Thalyssra’s respective stories.

There is absolutely no reason for Alleria to be there unless the Velves somehow come into play to fight her and Vareesa
she needs to just keep her butt in Dalaran and being a mom where she belongs. She has no dog in this race other than being a descendent of the Highborne (like the rest of us Belves and Velves). This story is a Night Elven story, not the descendents story for the most part so the major players should be those who were actually there. I get the whole wanting Alleria to get more screen time and maybe if something with Sylvannas is involved then she’d have reason to get a bit more but don’t pull the focus off a showdown 10,000 years in the making to show off a couple of elves that have no real dog in that 10,000 year race.

Blizzard seems to have been slowly phasing out the old Knaak canon, which means that the old War of the Ancients canon is still probably (hopefully) somewhat applicable.

Tyrande and Malfurion make the most sense to show up and face Azshara. They fought her for years during the war, and Tyrande literally took Azshara’s place as the leader of the kaldorei, and Malfurion was the one who duked it out one on one with Azshara in the final hours of the war.

Jarod’s role in the War is in some question, as we don’t know how or when Ravencrest died, though Jarod clearly was in a command role. Maiev never met Azshara, Shandris’ role as well is in question.

Tyrande will show up in 8.2.

Your memory is dead on.

Really, you think so? I haven’t see it, but I can understand why people would like that. I like Knaak’s story but I have to agree that the ikd version was better. The war might have been longer and the final battle was more interesting. I wonder if we can even find the series of events pior to Knaak’s version.

Even if they do phase it out the should keep some details like Jarod leading and Ravencrest’s death.

Now that I think about it though I guess I see where your coming from with them phasing out Knaak with the inclusion of Suramar, the demons trying to get in through the temple, and Farondis. Suramar in the book was deserted and a wreck when they went back during the war. They could just be expanding the story too. But if they do retcon it they should retcon how the war ended. Instead of Mal and Azshara’s battle disrupting the well maybe that could be more like a distration so that the Dragon Soul caused the disruption. I think that’s what happened in the book. I don’t think the dragon soul was an issue in the first version. Plus it allows Brox (I know he’s not a favorite plot point but it’s too late now, plus he kinda grew on me) to still jump through the portal to buy them time.

Knaak’s version quite simply doesn’t fit, timeline wise. Because he had Rhonin hanging out there, and Krasus, the war in his books lasts months, maybe a year at best. It doesn’t account for Illidan knowing Vashj beyond their one meeting, nor does it work at all with Illidan becoming the first demon hunter. He doesn’t get his glaives in the novels, nor does he even have time to wield them or train the first batch of followers before he’s imprisoned.

Even as far back as Cata, Malfurion and Azshara meet on Darkshore, and speak as old enemies, when in the novels Malfurion doesn’t even speak with Azshara at all.

The Dragon Soul is still canon in some way, this is true, though again they seem to be waffling back and forth on what’s actually canon in terms of everything else.
