I was wondering if this may be related to why they didn’t allow account-to-account transfers, where you have characters on multiple WoW Accounts on the same BNet account able to transfer, and whether they may start to allow this going forward.
But, I don’t know. Account-wide mounts is a feature I particularly dislike. Sure, I understand why people like it, but for me it reduces character identity, and also removes meaningful content (if you are a mount hunter, and farm the same mounts on multiple characters).
Of course someone could say, you can still go farm mounts you already have, and just ignore this, but… that’s not a thing.
I agree with you about the account-wide mounts. It diminishes the efforts made to obtain them and eliminates any individuality about the achievements and acquisitions.
Cata will be announced at blizzcon. They will probably have an option for people to roll to Cata or pay to clone their WOTLK characters like they did from classic to BC.
I don’t think they are doing Cata Classic since there isn’t much that is Classic about it. Not to mention even Ion said “We know that many feel Cata is the beginning of the end”
It would be surprising if they moved forward with Cata unless they do major changes since it’s universally not loved and Blizzard said we know it’s not popular. I know they did do surveys trying to ask people what they hated/loved about Cata.
Well this is the likely scenario even if they did release Cata for some reason. There just isn’t a reason to buy or play Cata for most.
I think Blizz has their eye on Classic + and a new adventure now for ALL WoW players. So a new expansion is more likely then Cata.
I bet it isn’t. There just isn’t a reason to do such a mediocre expansion. Especially when even Blizz said we know many view Cata as the beginning of the end.
Classic + is the future of World of Warcraft
They need a huge announcement at Blizzcon and no one cares about Cata or Retail expansions. Blizz needs an announcement to bring back hype to the game. Cata or another Retail expansion won’t do that. Which is why Blizzcon tickets didn’t sell out for the 1st time. Blizz needs a big win. Only Classic + can deliver.
He’s not. They’ll announce Cata Classic at Blizzcon. There will not be a Classic+. He’s just delusional. Blizz has put the least possible amount of time and resources into Classic and suddenly they’re going to design an entire new game based on it? Zero chance.
Cata will be announced at blizzcon and MAYBE a fresh classic server (SoM2)……maybe….and no the god almighty metzen is not going announce classic plus…there’s no way there going to make new content for classic era wow.
Everything you’re saying is your opinion yet you present it as fact. Some people really like cata, this whole idea of cata being bad is vastly overstated.
Another possible scenario is they started work on Cata features and Cata got canned. Wasting worked on assets is like throwing away money, and they can’t just throw this work into an a la cart store for other dev studios. Adding them in to Wrath instead would make some sense.
Cata became popular to hate. That is all. The people who became disillusioned by wow when Cata came out had other reasons to move on in their lives. They read on some forum it’s bad so instead of just moving on with a positive memory, they needed to break up because it hurt them.
Cata is the greatest expansion that ever was or ever will be. I welcome it. Vanilla/TBC/WOTLK classic was always a Cata Classic waiting room for me. Legit the only reason i ever had intetest in classic was for Cata. Cata is WoW at its absolute PEAK.
Wrath of the Lich King is the end of classic. The classes are the most complete and have good balance, but WotLK is where the game systems catered to more and more people (for better or worse).
WotLK is where the raids became “seasonal”. While doing Black Temple in TBC, we still did occasional Gruul runs at a chance of dragonspine trophy. That didn’t really exist in WotLK (retail). It was mitigated in classic with the Ulduar iLvl buff. People still want some Ulduar 25 trinkets/rings going into ICC. Each raid tier was designed to leave the previous one behind.
WotLK added RDF, which is more convenience for players who play alone. You now have the option to go from level 15 to 80 without ever leaving a town. It’s when the game became more “lobby” based. Yeah, its real convenient, but it is a departure from vanilla roots.
WotLK added tabards to farm rep. Allows you to grind out a rep with another activity you want to do anyways.
All of these shifts are, in my opinion, good changes. I like how the systems adapted and encouraged solo play. However, everyone seems to think Cata is where wow changed, and it just isn’t true.
