I find it ironic that with all the activity that seriously hurts the game, Blizz chose dungeon boosting and the LFD tool to eliminate in WOTLK Classic. Are these the worst of the problems? I bet not. Boosting isn’t good for the game, by the way we will sell you a level 70 boost. Take away the original group finder tool to keep it classic by adding the live version of the group finder tool. Yeah, thats keeping it classic. In the meantime we have bots and gold sellers running around screwing up the economy, greedy players running GDKP runs for gold so people who purchased the gold from the gold sellers can get gear. They buy gear to get into groups easier, at the disadvantage of the honest player who can actually play their class.
Ive been playing this game for a very long time and I thought that some day Blizz would stop making dumb decisions, but nope, it just keeps on going. At this point, whats going on with blizz is so ridiculous, one would have to believe that they’re actually the ones selling the gold and they’re the ones running the bots. Joking but, if that’s not the case then why did they choose dungeon boosting ( but they will sell you a boost ) and a grooping tool ( that broke the game so heres the broken version of it ) to blame for whats wrong with the game and MUST be stopped? What on earth is wrong with you Blizz? Who wants to bet that Blizz allows more than one 70 boost by the end of WOTLK Classic? Seriously Blizz, you will never, ever, fix all the problems of the game. If you have to change something, spend some time on the bots and gold selling. The rest of the game may not be perfect but its pretty darn good. Stop fixing the least of our problems anf fix the real problems.

I agree with pretty much everything you said, blizz talks about these core values and eliminates mage/pally boosting, that’s great! But then they sell players the same thing but instantly for real life dollars???
Then they allow gdkp which is probably the biggest problem in classic that is making Botting and gold selling so widespread purely because Brian Birmingham runs them and thinks they’re a good option?
Brian how about you ban GDKPs and then just buy the gold seeing as noon who buys gold ever gets a ban and stop talking nonsense about how you have core values for classic. The only values you guys have with classic are the $$$ values. I feel sorry for the nostalrius guys who took down there server and believed you would do any justice to the game we all love.

how the heck are you supposed to ban gdkps? you’re gonna ban people for trading gold for items? cmon dude

How do you ban GDKPs? Put it in the tos that you can get a suspension for taking part in a GDKP raid… I would’ve thought that would be common sense.

there’s nothing wrong with gdkp, in theory. the problem you have is the gold buying, which I agree should be banned more rigorously

The problem with gdkp is that it means people buy gold in larger quantities much more regularly. Which means gold sellers can essentially keep selling unlimited amounts of gold. Gold buyers otherwise would have no need to buy gold once they have their epic mounts and enchants/gems outside of consumables. So the gold buyer might spend 10k once and then not need to purchase gold again. With GDKPs they will buy 10k every few raid lockouts to buy gear with.

Just do paragraphs, puncuation isn’t needed but when it’s just one big wall of text it hurts my eyes to read it.

I mean, blizz COULD put in something that involves Gambling being against ToS. But then we will be on the whole, selling items at a set price of a first come first serve bases. Which we will be at another grid lock because of one reason alone this time around. Wanna guess the saying? Time is money friend.
No one to blame but ourselves.

How do you determine who is in a GDKP? Aside from having a GM sit and read LFG all day, not trolling I’d love to hear your ideas on how they could do it.
I don’t think there will ever be an end to GDKPs but if Blizzard dedicated more resources to cutting off gold sellers there would be fewer GDKPs, barring that GDKPs would cost less gold since not everyone has a million gold to toss around like it is candy.

Look at the members in the raid? Or the trade logs that happen at the end of the raid?

Maybe? Could work, but it also relies on blizz hiring and paying people to look at that stuff

Which should be happening anyway. Kind of ridiculous that we all pay blizz so much money and they have less GMs than private servers that don’t have a cash shop or sub at all.

It does feel like a bubble that’s about to burst, does it not?
At least to some extent, we’re just spinning wheels at this point. As long as players can glean some semblance of substance from playing the game I guess it’s still a win.
As a player, what I can do is make the conscious decision not to join GDKP groups when/if I can avoid them, and try to create groups with more wholesome loot rules.
Boss kill specific lockout restrictions, rather than instance-wide ones, could assist players in feeling more free to group with a wider variety of players over the course of any given week, and provide for a more inclusive experience when it comes to raids and people who seek to enter and engage with them.
I mean, maybe raiding isn’t for everybody. That’s worthy of investigation. People certainly aren’t making GDKP dungeon groups. But, as a player who might prefer other forms of endgame, it’s hard to circumvent the design trajectory of the game’s content, historically speaking.
Endgame raids are where Blizzard invested a vast majority of it’s development budget. SotA would have been a more engaging content piece if it had been a little more symmetrical.

I maintain that Character Migrations, both paid and free, have been among the most destructive implementations brought to Classic.
