I hadn’t played classic since a few months after TBCC release and I returned the night before wrath pre-patch, on that night I was leveling up mining in redridge and happily using the forge next to the blacksmith vendor to smelt my ores. I went to sleep happy that I had made decent progress on my mining profeciency and monetary gains from selling the ingots, However, I was unaware of the horror I would face upon logging back into the game after the pre-patch had been applied. Blizzfully unaware of the massive hole that was missing from time and space I made a new character on the freshstart realm and started leveling, from Elwynn to Westfall I went, slaying hogger and then being conscripted into a lengthy plot involving the defias brotherhood and SI:7. On this journey I was tasked with heading to Lakeshire where my life would be turned upside down. I ran on foot from stormwind and as I crossed the Everstill Bridge I could feel something was missing, my stomach felt like an empty pit as my eyes bore witness to the empty space beside Karen Taylor. The forge was gone! I was very loud and vocal to my companions about how I had spent all of the night before using that very forge but they dismissed me as a crackpot. The echoes of blizzcon quotes reverberated in my mind “You think you do but you don’t” “You’re just misremembering, the data shows.” “The Redridge forge doesn’t exist, it can’t hurt you.” I quietly backed down and kept playing the game knowing I wasn’t crazy but afraid to speak up and tell my truth, UNTIL TODAY!
I foolishly logged into retail before dragonflight pre-patch and began the same journey over to lakeshire as I had made on classic. I passed a level 9 doing the lumbercamp quests and a dead demonhunter on the border to redridge, I thought that was strange because I wasn’t on warmode so how did this high level demonhunter die??? I laughed but carried on my journey and as I crossed the Everstill Bridge my eyes lit up. THE FORGE! It rendered in from 5ft away because long distance asset rendering is hard for a multidollar company to handle. How could this anomaly exist in retail but not in wrath classic? Why was it present in burning crusade classic? Does it exist in season of mastery or classic era? Is this Forge an SCP?!?
With all this said… Why? Why did an inconsequential forge vanish? What else could be lost to the void and what else is present that shouldn’t be? I demand answers and for the forge to be reinstalled in its rightful place!
As a Blacksmith by trade ( in game of course ) I was amiss to find the Redridge forge missing. I pray Blizz returns this prized monument to its rightful place!
Guys! Stop fighting! There are bigger things at stake than who is or isnt a boomer (we all know Caddo is one but we don’t need to argue over it) WE NEED ANSWERS TO THIS MYSTERY!
This wall of text that no one will read is beautiful man. So beautiful I will quote it in hopes that a more fortunate soul has the chance to read through it.
What do you mean? It only doesn’t exist in Wrath classic. It wasn’t added in cata but didn’t exist before. Something is wrong with the wrath classic code and this is extremely serious!
