I don’t know how much fun you can get going 20 feet somewhere else to watch a badly translated cutscene, and that is the rarity as most are just “go here, kill something and get xp.” The only story is msq.

Current content has some heavy RNG but it’s also all optional content. I’m talking about the current relic weapon you get in Eureka. The step in Eureka Pyros has a part where you need to farm up 2 light. You then use those 2 light to roll random secondary stats on your weapon. It’s blah RNG but also not that important as you can get weapons that are just as good or better via other methods.
That said, I’ve been back to FF14 for 2 years now and can’t stop playing. This game is leaps and bounds more alt class friendly as well. People who like playing alt classes would love this games setup. No need to REDO EVERYTHING OVER AND OVER each time you want to level another alt class.

lol that’s like saying in wow ‘have you leveled up an alt of every class’ in my experience you do get some interesting new quests of different classes, but all the dungeons and everything else is the same.
Also the fact that it’s all on one character reduces the incentive as it means there’s a lack of rested xp.
Got a quote for this? Patches come out about every 6-8 weeks. Doesn’t leave much time to unsub. I got a friend from WoW into the game and they are loving it. They are also shocked how often patches come out.

I know that the pvp mode is because I spammed it to level up my dps classes as dungeon queue times are stupid in that game for how necessary doing them is to level.

In short, you rushed to max level, ignored content you deemed worthless (which seems to be a huge portion) and wrote the rest off as its useless…to you.

It is as silly to have a honeymoon period for a game YOU CLEARLY HAVE NOT EVEN PLAYED YET (just about everything in the game changed since 2.0 originally released) as it is to insult me by claiming I have done nothing in a game I did everything there is to do. You get rested exp from staying/logging out in safe zones. You also get bonus exp from having another job with a higher level. So usually you would level your main job via MSQ to level cap, then all other jobs will gain bonus exp from having at least your main job at higher level. If you join a free company (guild), they can also put on exp buff for their members. If you’re in a preferred world, you get exp buff from that. Then there are the items that give exp buff, like the one from preordering the upcoming expansion that will arrive on March 1 and give you 30% exp from 1-70 and scale to your level. Essentially plenty of exp buffs nowadays both for your main and alt jobs.

The only buff worth anything there is “road to 60,” and the armory bonus gets less the closer you are to your max leveled character.
