Two different people had two different anecdotal experiences. Amazing! It really didn’t require an entire essay to convey that people have different perspectives on reality.
I’m a bit of a wow refugee on FF14 myself, sadly I went full blast getting to end-game in FF14, and been waiting for ages for them to release new content and more story line, but it seems I’m fully up to date with everything in that game now.
So I don’t log on FF14 atm as I have nothing to do over there.
I honestly don’t get this.
I stopped paying two weeks into WoD, then came back at the launch of BFA. While in my history I’ve paid to transfer servers and race change characters, as well a a couple of vanity/charity items, I haven’t paid anything but the subscription since the launch of BfA.
I love Mythic+ and PvP content, and haven’t found it necessary to shell out extra money to be successful at these.
If they want to sell a shiny blue fox to people, or support/help out financially struggling players via tokens, by all means, go for it. I could care less. It’s not impacting my game play.
Azerite traits do need to be simplified, though. Layers upon layers of RNG are more than mildly annoying.
Reread the story. You missed the point.
sadly I went full blast getting to end-game in FF14,
Uh huh.
I bet you did that that other guy did, ignored a huge slew of content including crafting quests etc. There is still a lot to do…you just wont do it.
I VERY much doubt you did every quest in every craft in every class…see, if you had, you woulkdnt be here. Youd still be playing.
There is enough quest content alone in ARR to last six months.
You went full blast to endgame and ignored 90% of the content…and now say you have nothing to do.
Theres a lot left I bet you havent even touched.
Which I have never seen enforced as the only people who dps shame are statics where they know people will not report them.
I mentioned more than that. That you did not see what I have changes little.
I actually seek out other people to interact with. Treating it passively like a singleplayer game will mean you interaction with others will be the bare minimum.
I don’t craft, I did everything there is. Really, the content outside of grinding for glam or prog raiding is nil.
sidequests are worth even less in ffxiv as they give jack for xp. Only way to level is dungeons or deep dungeons.
Like I said, ALL of the content in that game is just leveling alts, and you seem to unironically consider this a good thing.
I don’t craft
But
I did everything there is

No it isnt. Far from it.
Lot of mentions here about FFXIV, but I’m surprised no speaking of the much bigger MMOs that are taking more players such as GW2, BDO, and of course ESO.
These are more popular than FFXIV and within their communities are always dealing with the influx of WoW refugees.
Most MMO players have played WoW at one point so I don’t think WoW will get MMO refugees from a different game.
I did all the meaningful content. Doing every single sidequest in a zone is a good way to waste 5 hours and only get half a level of xp as quests are even worse than fates for leveling (fates will give 100k xp when you need 10M xp to level, quests will give you 50k when you need 10M xp to level). Crafting is not meaningful content if you don’t want to do it and don’t care about it. It is just wow’s crafting system with a minigame attached that can make you fail the craft and destroy the items used.
That is not fun.
I just looked at your profile, you dont have Loremaster for half of WOW either.
Looks like you always rush.
So I have to do crap I don’t want just to justify myself in a game to some random troll?

It is all meaningful.
I called this when they introduced dailies in BC. It just took another 10 years for it to come to fruition.

Nope, just noting that your claim to have seen “all the content” is not the case at all. You rushed to max level.
Looks to me that theres a lot of content I will be doing that you missed.
I have also become one of these WoW refugees. I want to play WoW but the game isn’t even close to as fun as it used to be. We’ve all given so much feedback that just hasn’t been listened to so why even bother anymore. They don’t listen and they haven’t listened. It’s obvious. I’ve held on for 10 years but it has come time for me to go too. RIP WoW.
Not at all, you get more xp from doing one deep dungeon than from doing a whole zone of sidequests. sidequests that usually are fetchquests, as a good majority of the game is just that.
So you never played the game and are just using your cognitave dissonance to assume that because I am not as honeymoon infatuated as you, that I haven’t done even as much as you have without even playing.
I did it all and got the t-shirt. wow is the better game by far and I have explained a fraction of why that is here.

You are thinking that if it doesnt give a reward, it isnt meaningful at all.
It just strikes me as odd that you dont think that content that doesnt give xp isnt worth it. I beg to differ.

Played for a few weeks in 2015. RL took over and up until now, hadnt given it much thought. Looking at videos and from what I have heard, it has improved a great deal.
Because it isn’t meaningful… Both dungeons and 10 floors of deep dungeons give around the same xp. sidequests and fates give maybe 1/20th of the xp or worse for the same time spent.
you get nothing out of doing them as they are basically fetch quests with xp to match.

Ever stop to think that doing a questline for the fun of it or the story has merit?
I’ve gone back at max level and done questlines I never got to finish for Loremaster. ICC was intense, I LOVED the rest of Terrokar…did you know that the parents and family of Bridenbrad are in a small house outside Stormwind?
You DO know who Bridenbrad is, dont you?
That theres a gnome near the city with a farm that has exploding sheep?
The entire Dread Wastes questline and the Klaxxi…theres a huge sting in the tail at the end?
A quest doesnt have to give xp or a “reward” to be worth it or meaningful.

Story? Music? Scenery?
I don’t know how much fun you can get going 20 feet somewhere else to watch a badly translated cutscene, and that is the rarity as most are just “go here, kill something and get xp.” The only story is msq.
