I don’t really like the look, but I like the features.
It’ll grow on ya.
We get emojis!
YEE
People just don’t want to adapt. They want things to always stay the same. Reject anything new and shiny.
I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either.
I guess I like more changes than I dislike.
But yes, it’s really bad on mobile. So much scrolling… but once you figure out how to skip around in the scrolling, it’s better.
Give it some time. The @mention functionality alone is amazing. As well as the auto updating. Welcome to the 21st century baby.
I’m slowly getting used to it, but overall I’d say my reaction so far is positive.
Two things I’d liked to see changed, tho:
-
A way to see not only your trust level in the Summary page, but your progress towards the next trust level
-
Change the background color for the love of the Titans! This one is so old and so … blah.
/moo
I thought our character portraits would have a better quality, but it seems kinda… worse. The rest is just a matter of getting used to it, imo.
It would be super awesome to see trust level on your profile, not sure if that’s a default setting, and which background color would you prefer? OOH! what if we could pick individual custom colors like only you would see?
Normal, it would be strange if you really liked it because you hate everything.
I like that you can embed stuff
There is exactly one aspect I strongly object to that may well drive me away from the forums permanently.
The concept of “Trust levels” restricting what you’re able to do with your posts based on your frequency and volume of use of the forums.
Perhaps petty, but it’s a matter of principle. It sets a very unsettling precedent, in my eyes, for a forum that’s always been “if you have a WoW account, you can post here, and everyone has equal posting rights”.
Think it’s because you can embed stuff. Can so a lot of harm with that alone. I want to know how to quote.
Endless scrolling needs to go. So many cool new features and yet a single terrible one ruins the whole thing.
Just highlight the text of a post, and click “Quote”!
I think the basis of it is to drive engagement, get you to like and read posts, and if you’re super active, you get rewarded with things that super active users may utilize effectively.
I can see your point though.
Thanks my gnome friend That’s gonna take some getting used to on mobile.
When Overwatch got these forums, I really didn’t like them. However, I have gotten used to them and can see the pros and cons to the two forums. Simply put, just give it a bit of time to get used to it.
New forums feel unnecessarily complicated.
