One that lets users enter an explanation for when it is not obvious what is wrong. IE: Someone posts a post that is massive on WET that contains a graphic depiction of child abuse or sexual assault (which has happened) may be something that a mod might miss in a long post and us being able to say what is wrong is important.
Mods may not recognize coded language that is homophobic/transohoic/racist and may get a report that seems like a normal post but isn’t.
Take for example the referring to people as "NPC"s.
I mod one of the large server specific Discords and our staff has quite the task keeping up with some of this.
What? How is this bad? What example are you trying to show? People are in fact “npcs” by all means, but digital. That’s no different than referring to someone as a side character in your story that is your life.
Oh well, whatever. I’m not about to let someone’s own idea for a word change what I used it for, before it became a “meme”. Maybe if a mod can actually feel a real sense of derogatory context from someone’s use of a word, it may be valid to be actioned on. Like saying “You walnut…” But dear god if it ever gets to “People are npcs in my life.” is banable or something, that’s depressing.
You call getting banned for it depressing, I call the dehumanization an earmark of a sociopath. Potato potato.
Having the ability for a user to specify why something is a cause for concern is a GoodIdea™ as we saw them do for reporting things in chat like language, spam, and names in game.
My only issue with the new forums is replying to a thread feels more awkward since I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to do it. Otherwise, the other features will just take some time for me to get used to.
The fact you think it’s dehumanizing is depressing. I think of it as a ranking like an importance position. You have friends, best friends, a friend so close you can refer to them as a brother or sister. Well my neighbor is an npc. Someone I have no involvement in. That’s not dehumanizing. Another neighbor is a side character. I know this person, we say hello when we pass each other. Is it “dehumanizing” to refer to someone as a business partner when they only ever talk to you when they want something?
Dont know why you mentioned this. Has nothing to do with what I was talking about. I’m not against it in any way.
You dont have to scroll with the wheel. Just click the blue bar at the bottom, the arrow under the blue bar or press the “end” key.
Nah not really. Reading the classic forum all this time has let me see 1st hand what a sub less forum looks like. And since regular wow forums have required a sub all this time, I’m thinking it’s just a bug or something they missed. Let’s see what happens with it.
