Yeah everyone knows what they signify and they sound so similar they cause PTSD in some. But don’t worry, fireworks won’t be going anywhere. The tradition of blowing off one’s arm while drunk is completely intact.

Thats good because you realize every single time some other tradition that wasn’t American was attempted to be shut down or people spoke out against. People got called xenophobes racists and other names. It’s beyond me why this level of SJW fighting to protect Cultural history of America isn’t also observed. I guess only other groups matter.

Yeah not getting into that kind of politics. I’m not bitter about change and don’t think that fireworks are on the same level as preserving cultural history. It’s just something some people do for fun while drunk and eating food. It’s not that deep. And it originated from China, not even from the US.
Yeah, not many of the US traditions are fully original… melting pot and all that.
Don’t mind me just enjoying 4th of july.

I enjoy like, a fireworks show. I am not a fan of individual people shooting them off in neighborhoods. They’re never particularly good, and these people don’t just do them for a couple hours, or even one day. They’ve been shooting them off all day and for nearly two weeks leading up to today! I hold no illusions that now that the Fourth has come and gone, it’s over. People will keep it up for another two weeks easily I’m sure.

Come to India during Diwali celebration. You will have a nightmare with the amount of fireworks that happens. You will feel like you are in a warzone
I’ve been hearing fireworks for almost daily for over a month, and luckily my dog isn’t too scared of them any more.
He did get a bit over stimulated at the crescendo of fireworks earlier when multiple groups of people were shooting off what looked to be professional grade stuff.
At one point you couldn’t see the moon in the sky despite it being a clear night other than the smoke in the air.
Also, pretty sure they are illegal where I am still, at least the big stuff.
Small stuff is okay, but not these big rockets like they normally use at shows.

gotta love fist world problems am i right. Not having to worry about food, water or shelter, or working that 16 hour shift every week to make sure your clients are taken care of. Or the fact you dont work in a dangerous neighborhood where gunshots go off every other day. Nah waking up from fireworks this one night is the worst thing ever!

Mate. My abusive grandma would slam the door to my room loudly just to startle me awake. Being startled awake gives me really bad panic attacks.
I’m well aware of how stupid this sounds but trauma can be stupid like that.

i get 4 hours of sleep every sunday morning to work a 16 hr shift, the lack of sleep problems aren’t that huge for me >_>
