Here is how I get burnt out on WoW and skip seasons.
I spent so much time last week getting my myth-track vault slots filled. I only have 3 myth track pieces so far. The first myth track vault I got gave me the one item I wouldn’t use, and now I’m essentially skunked again.
In my opinion the vault is the worst example of wasting player’s time. Sure, you can get lucky and get a bis piece with speed or avoidance on that, but the amount of times that has happened to me in my years of playing is so rare, I can’t remember the last time. I think I got a weapon week 1 of shadowlands, which was literally the first vault.
Yeah yeah another thread complaining about getting crap in the vault but isn’t having all of these threads a sign that the system needs to be improved?
I have many ideas about improving this, but I don’t want to derail the thread. If I post the ideas then people will attack me for that. So instead, just attack me for whining about getting a crap vault.
EDIT: SKUNKED AGAIN this week! I killed 3 mythic bosses, no drops from raid. I had 4 options in my vault for myth track gear yet I only have 3 myth track pieces of gear that I’m wearing, but all were bad. The trinket was worse than the heroic ones I have already. I can’t use a two-handed weapon because of embellishment. And I already have a better neck/head piece. The last meaningful upgrade I got was 3 weeks ago now. This system suuuuucks.
You know that moment when you fall out of love with someone? I just had that moment, but with this game.
Before the Vault, you participated in game activities. You would raid, Mythic+, or whatever for a chance at loot. That has not changed, and they’ve added a chance at loot just based on participating in those other activities. And that’s bad?
Loot is already RNG. The vault is just a bonus. Would you rather not have a possible bonus for playing the game? No one is forced to get every vault slot filled.
I hardly even pay attention to the gear. It comes eventually. Just play an alt if you need that upgrade endorphins again . I haven’t got a good trinket on my main since release… But I’m still ok in ilvl and hit all my content goals so who cares. Maybe I’ll get it when I log in to my 100% filled vault, but probably not lol! Haven’t got any good rings either , those stuck at 619 forever.
First of all, I didn’t play back before there wasn’t a weekly chest/vault. So this time you speak of, I wasn’t there.
Second, I do M+. I would do mythic raid (and have done mythic raid end bosses) but I don’t have a team, pugging mythic raid is not super pleasant.
So right now, I don’t get upgrades. I already have all hero-track gear, so I don’t see a single upgrade. For all intents and purposes the vault is the only progression left that I have. Do you want to play a game where you don’t progress at all?
Honestly, the “vault is just a bonus” comment I think must be one made just to annoy people. The vault is the most important progression in the game. Also, despite clearing heroic raid basically every week minus some bosses, the drop rate in raid is so bad that likely you won’t see a single upgrade if you do a raid. In all of those clears, I have gotten 2 items.
OBVIOUSLY blizzard intends the vault to be a main source of end-game gear. I think your mentality must be coming from an extremely casual place, where you don’t care about gear’s ilvl at all.
I don’t want to play alts this season.
I don’t want to play alts this season.
You do your content, I do mine. I would like to get into pushing higher keys but they nerfed my class and my ilvl is 5-10 below the people pushing the keys I want to get into.
So many "L"s, I like this patch a lot in other ways but I have not been having the same fun I used to.
I had three myth slots, two from raid one from M+.
My best option was the neck I already had, at Myth track instead of hero. So I just got it and saved 30 gilded crests. Good thing I didn’t waste them upgrading the piece to 6/6 hero or it would have been truly disappointing.
Honestly, the last guild I was raiding with kept making fun of me for not being white, and then we abandoned mythic jailer (was S3 of shadowlands) while we had him at 2.7%. If you know a guild doing end-raid bosses and won’t make fun of me for my heritage then you are welcome to make suggestions
And the whole point of this post was that I was grinding mythic plus to fill the vault so I’m not sure what you mean by grind more mythic+. After grinding mythic+ I feel the rewards are very disappointing. negative dopamine rush
Its taken me a rediculious amount of group breaking apart, invites to groups that never start, or bad groups constantly failing to finally get 2 slots…
Im hoping to the loot gods I get a Grim batol mythic lvl trinket or my bis staff… I need luck so bad.
Honestly this is why they have the 2x coins you can buy sockets or other things with. There is absolutely nothing I want from current season anything outside of 1 or 2 transmog items. So all the vault is for me are the tokens to make gilded. So 2 weeks worth to go up 1 ilvl on a slot of gear. Im ok with this. 11.0.7 will be soon and 11.1 after that.
If I really wanted to, I could level up a couple more alts and gear them to pass the time. My choice is to not do this.
I keep saying let players use Vault tokens to buy specific, Myth-track pieces from a seasonal dungeon vendor. Each piece should cost 20 tokens, which is three-odd weeks of not collecting Vault loot.
EDIT: To clarify, I mean upgradable to Myth-track gear. Like how bullion items in DF were 1/12 or 1/14.
Sad to hear your last guild was a bunch of racists, but I can assure you one thing: not everyone, but rather a significant minority of people, in guilds are racists.
If you got Jailor down to 2.7% during season 3 in SL, and you are going at the game at a high M+ level … Yeah. Mythic raiding guilds are gonna be interested in you. So you just start looking, applying, and try to find guilds. Bit on the tricky side to do it mid-patch so likely you’ll at best get a guild maybe for the next patch and the remaining period of S1 of TWW will be your trial period.
But the way you find people is by just applying to Mythic raiding guilds.
They are saying it is an endgame activity that’s largely the only avenue for people to participate in without a guild if you want to pursue highend endgame PvE content.
The vault is, quite literally, a bonus form of “bad luck protection.” People hated running a raid and getting no drops. The vault would guarantee a drop, but the drop is RNG like everything else. Item level is just depended on the activities you participate in.
Nobody plays this game with an end game of filling the vault. People fill the vault for better chances at an upgrade, sure, and they want to maximize their chances. But progression happens through progressing through relevant content, not a bonus lottery ticket.
Why do you need mythic track gear if you aren’t raiding or doing high end Mythic+? You guys are crazy. And it isn’t the ONLY source. Mythic raids and high end Mythic+ is where you get it.
I do not have the time, or the ability, to be a cutting edge mythic raider. I am not hung up on the fact that I can’t get mythic track gear because I don’t do the content that awards it. Why is there an expectation that you should get it by means other than playing the content that awards it in the first place?
This is good and well for alts like you, but for main characters who understand the limited chances at myth track gear, losing a whole week’s worth of that feels pretty bad. There’s no way to sidestep the point that a week’s worth of progress deleted feels bad- even if you 'don’t care" about yourself, you can understand someone might have more goals than you. It’s not a shocker.
