When you think about it there is no harm from wow token that doesn’t already exist from gold buying, I suspect in the end wow token won’t do much to combat gold sales though.
I mean in theory if wow token should find it’s value to be the same as the value of illicit gold.
if the price of elicit gold is $20 for X gold then wow token would also need to worth X gold on the AH for it to be worth spending the $20 to buy.
If that is the case and wow token were valued at X gold on the AH then you get a poor conversion as now you’re being asked to pay X gold for a $15 value a 25% value loss.
Maybe this could be balanced out by the convenience of not paying real money to play wow anymore, but there’s an even bigger problem: Most people buying wow tokens off the AH will need at most 1 per month which will put a major limit on demand. If every player that buys gold tried to buy the same amount through wow token the market would be overwhelmed with supply that far exceeds demand. I think classic would need a much larger player base to make wow token a viable method of fighting gold sellers.
With all that said i don’t think wow token is causing any harm.
Also for the record I don’t think it’s blizzard being particularly greedy, remember for every $20 wow token sold they only profit $5 in the long run

it goes to the people who aren’t paying a subscription fee for that month.
Gold is created from the sky for these token sales. Lol if you think you’re helping someone. You are lining blizz pockets.

I don’t care that much either, but in principle it’s still trashy
They literally allow officially-sanctioned gold buying on a “classic remake”. It’s no different than Warmane now
It’s incredible that some private servers hosted for free (the non-shop ones) had more integrity than the actual company who created the game

By allowing the token, and not banning those who bought gold in the first place you are approving RMT, and buying items/gear/services, not earning them.
This alone is the whole argument. They are diminishing the achievements of other players. GDKP’s are a joke, and should also be suspended/banned.
So by blizzard releasing the token, they are giving up on integrity, and have confirmed they never cared about the bots in the first place, they just want the sub’s from them, and want to get a cut of the RMT they do.

So if read that correctly, what you’re really saying is, if harm already exists, I guess it doesn’t hurt to double down on it. Can’t say I agree with the sentiment.

They use that to execute /generateGold.
It has no new effect on my gameplay at all. I log in, raid with my guild then log off till next week.

No, tokens are bad. Character boosts are bad.
Potions are dah way.
Most players would welcome unlimited boosts at least thats what i can tell from all the complaining about leveling.
People willing to pay for a product, this is an outrage. What will they ask for next ? Pre-sliced bread?! Slicing the bread is simply part of the experience!
The damage is done. They wouldn’t ban the buyers. So it got way out of hand. Buyers should have been hit with 6 month ban on first offense.
Permanent ban on the 2nd. That would have had the most impact. Instead. Blizz watched the bots.
Still watching the bots. The bots are still running. Buyers still buying. Nothing to see here folks.
No sense banning them because they all stole credit cards. If we ban them a butterfly will flap its wings and Tokyo will explode. Nothing can be done. Here buy some tokens. Ignore the bots. They don’t effect you.
Tauren droppings. Plain and simple.
That’s not true. Warmane has RDF and no bs H+ mode

They fired a guy for giving the loot goblins a line saying “more yachts for me!?” I doubt the rampant MTX will stop with the token
It was never about the RMT. June 30th is fast approaching, gotta show YoY and QoQ growth or shareholders get upset.
Remember, they lost their deal to run in China, which was already running the Token; parasite just changed hosts.
Maybe I don’t understand how this token works considering I’ve never purchased one. But it seems like in order to purchase a token you use real money which is then purchased by someone else with gold on AH. That being the case the person must have been sitting on the gold in the first place? So how is gold being “created” , and not simply redistributed ?
Because unlike a normal auction item, where you can see the name of the other player. The tokens just ‘appearing’ (buying with gold) and ‘disappear’ (sold for gold).
So there’s no way to know if the tokens people are getting with their gold were tokens others purchased with money.
However, in EVE Online, which has their own version of ‘the token’ (PLEX). Players list them on the AH just like a regular item; you can see who listed it.
We can use retail for a comparison for this. There are people spamming services but its for carries now instead of mass spam for gold. The token more or less but a big door in front of gold buying since gold sellers have to compete with a legit version now. So their means around it would be to either lower price drastically or produce other services. Why would someone risk TOS for maybe 1kg instead of legit getting gold from an official source. The ease of use is the reasoning gold sellers have issues. We can look at Netflix. Its not too hard to find most tv shows online to watch but I also have the netflix app on my tv and can simply click and watch the shows instead of finding the show for free. That 3 minutes of extra work makes me simply pay for a service instead.
I mean if it’s on the AH for gold is it not assumed someone posted it there who had purchased it with money?
